    I experienced the same problem with my hose o-ring than you.
    Went to Adendorffs and buy a small case of o-rings with different sizes for R 55-00.
    One of the o-rings fits. :)

    I got an 2017 Explorer with the rubber axle.
    Over the last three years we traveled extensively in Southern Africa on really bad roads with heavily laden Explorer. Deep sand, mud, rocky terrain....

    I took my towbar to an Engineering shop and they drilled two holes in it.

    Problem solved for R 250-00.

    I since tow my caravan many times without any problems.

    I bought my first Jurgens Explorer in 2004. Tow it to wild places in Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
    Trade my first Explorer in and get for more money for it that I paid for it in 2004....

    Tows like a dream with no sagging issues, even with load bay full of stuff.

    In my opinion, our Jurgens Explorer, is sleep ready for two persons. Just parked it, shift the porta potty a bit, and sleep.

    During November 2018, we drove in Northen Kafue with a Jurgens Explorer caravan.
    Tow it with Hilux DC. Difficult at time but no problems.
    I will not recommend doing it in the rain season....
