Re: List of Silent home Generators

    I ask to better understand:
    Why is it unsafe?
I get the lead with male plug danger, and that is obviously very real. Not called a "suicide lead" for nothing.
What other dangers, if the genni has a...

    Re: Engine Braking vs Brakes

I most definitely do not gear down for every stop.
I use the engine to keep speed under control on steep down hills. Brakes can overheat very quickly, which reduces their effectiveness and will...

Re: Sport or drive when towing

    Poen,
    Consider wheel torque....
The higher the gear, the lower the actual torque going to the wheels to push the car forward. If there is a 20% ratio difference between two consecutive gears, then...

Re: Pajero OBD2, Torque Pro and Cats.

    Great stuff Backroads!
I definitely missed your original post. Thanks for sharing again.
    To agree with your observation:
Slow traffic does nothing to tranny oil temps. I used to stick the box in...

Re: Pajero OBD2, Torque Pro and Cats.

    Hi Diver...
You mention "scary" transmission oil temps. What numbers are you seeing??
My current ride offers a digital readout on engine coolant and tranny oil. The two temps mimic each other due...

Re: getting started on grid tied

I can recall seeing something like 46A at 52V coming down into my buddie's house from the panels on the roof. That is pretty lethal.

    Re: VW and engine covers

I did some internet "research" on my car and engine covers.
They are designed and fitted to suppress engine noise. The design spec is to not hear it idling at 25ft. Not only is there a cover on the...

Eselbank featured on my shortlist of towns to retire in. It just seems like the most peaceful place on the planet. All the houses next to the main street have their doors open and you just know you...

It can do no harm to take it nice and easy at first. The motor may just reward you in the long run.

  13. Re: Vioolsdrift breaks record: hottest day in Africa...ever

Back in the day we had 52 at "Onsekans" (Onseepkans). I remember sitting in the Orange with only my face above water to sip my beer.

Re: Water running into Isuzu diesel tank

How much water? It sounds like litres of water, when I read your post. If so, then the only realistic option is in the filler area.

    Re: What to do

I'll definitely go for 2 new tyres on same axle.
There was a thread a while ago about front or rear axle.... typical one with no winner, but my money is 100% on rear axle for new tyres.
  25. Re: Lockers/Traction Control etc etc........Comparison??

On the late model Pajeros, with rear DL, the TC is killed when DL is selected.
The late model Isuzus with TC, kills the TC on the rear wheels only when rear DL is activated. The front TC remains...

I cracked the 66k km mark a few days ago.
Still no issues to report. Replaced the battery a week or two ago due to a dead cell.
