    Re: The Lithium battery fred

Be careful of talk of the town, new kids on the block, first go read up on other forums about endless issues with those new kids.

Stick to reputable brands with good reputation, good support in...

Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

Wow, sounds great, so do you just leave your entire setup there during the week or do you pack and pitch every weekend?
At one stage I knew a guy who lived in Dinokeng and working in the Menlyn area.

Re: Snomaster problems after 4 years

We recently had a 10 plus year old IndelB fridge with a internal leak fixed for R700.
Around 5 years ago NL the IndelB agents at the time, I don't know if they still are, also said the most cost...
  4. Re: Real world ownership feedback - Toyota LC200 V8 D4D (2014) - Nys, what have you d

My pa het altyd gese Toyota was baie up front met die verbruik van die 1GR-FE, dit staan sommer duidelik op die kant 4.0 V6, tussen 4.0 en 6.
  5. Re: Gas geyser is the way to go convince me otherwise.

    No...

My reasoning, you have a 3 kW geyser element, 3 kW for let's say 2 hours is 6 kWh.
6 kWh per day at R2.25 per kW is R13.5 per day, fast forward 5 years and let's say we pay R5 per kWh, it...

    Re: Posting photos of rhino

Just remember 99% of people snapping a pic with their phone will forward it to a buddy or post it to social media without even thinking about location and other metadata imbedded in that photo, let...

    Re: Posting photos of rhino

I tend to lean your way in my thinking.
Just remember I'm no expert, I started this thread as a layman asking opinions.
  9. Re: Substantial voltage drop when Compressor kicks in

I suspect that original fridge cable might be the issue, a bit further than that, maybe even the wiring inside the fridge which runs from the compressor to the connector on the chassis where you plug...
  10. Re: Substantial voltage drop when Compressor kicks in

If you already have a solenoid and 50mm2 cables to the back then no a DC-DC isn't needed, at some point you will probably want a DC-DC though and then you can upgrade to one.

    A Nokia 3310 from 20...

    Re: Caravan Winching

Nothing wrong with steel rope, it's just a female dog to work with, the synthetic stuff you get these days is super nice, soft and flexible like a normal tent guy rope, so super easy to work with and...

    Re: Caravan Winching

There was a thread on the same not too long ago.

*Fit a winch in the garage floor, properly bolted / concreted down.
    * 1 ton, even less should do just fine, I prefer over engineering though.

    Re: Posting photos of rhino

Ja I often see people after a trip to Kruger for example post photos of their sitings, they then don't include photos of the rhino but mention that they saw rhino and that they are not posting the...

    Re: Posting photos of rhino

Private farms I can half understand, but then again if you have labourers, it anyway won't take long before everyone knows you have rhinos on the farm.

Big public reserves is a different story, as...

    Posting photos of rhino

I've been wondering for a while now what the opinion is these days on posting photos of rhino on social media etc.

For quite a while one got the idea that there's a unwritten rule not to post any...

Re: Why is safety still not a priority??

I know of very few people who will consider or choose one vehicle over another because of the amount of airbags. Never heard someone say, I rather paid R20k more because this one has 4 more airbags,...

    Re: Fridge operating

I've always been of the opinion that the cost of a extra solar panel is worth not having to sweat over micro managing the opening and closing of my fridge. Being on holiday, having to think in...

Hence me saying the customer is always right, no matter how wrong they are.
  22. Re: Why we hugely regret buying used from Bush Lapa Gauteng North

Don't want to derail, agree with you, but it's that thing of fuming inside with a smile on your face, a duck on water calm on the surface but peddling like hell underneath etc.
  23. Re: Why we hugely regret buying used from Bush Lapa Gauteng North

    Re: Solar serup charging problem

You should seek the problem at the HCDP panel, this has nothing to do with your Victron Smartsolar, remember the Victron Smartsolar only charges the battery from solar, AC charging is still handled...
  25. Re: Substantial voltage drop when Compressor kicks in

Yes it can very possibly be that 3, 4m cable you have running from the fridge to the bat box, also, what connectors are you using, cigarette, Hella, Anderson?
It might be worth redoing that cable...

    Re: Connecting a third battery

You are over thinking this and trying to complicate it.

You already have a DC-DC with battery in the vehicle, you already have a DC-DC with battery in the trailer, keep it that way and keep them...

    Re: Connecting a third battery

Some equalization will probably take place, but it will be super slow and because it's different battery chemistries, different voltages it will stop at some point.

    I won't at all advise...

    Re: Sleep apnea machine power

Agree with you in principle, I'm not a fan of modified sine wave at all, since you never know what you get, in fact so many manufacturers claiming pure sine wave turns out to be not so pure.

    Re: Sleep apnea machine power

I'm no expert, but I don't see why you'll need a pure sine wave inverter if the machine works off a 24v DC adaptor like the typical Resmed, different story of course if it works directly off AC.

+1 my dad uses the same brand and got the 12 to 24V adaptor from Resmed right from the beginning.
I later also built him a battery box for use at home during load shedding.
