    Re: Battery box from wood?

Thank you Gerhard. I hand-drew the concept for the anderson housing, and, together with very precise plug measurements, asked an engineer-relative to have it 3D-printed. It cost about R150, as I...

    Re: Portable Lithium Box

    Thanks Woolf! Very nice job.

And now that I've had a better look, I'm keen to hear where you got those busbar isolating mounts. They are perfect for the job, and mine are quite bulky.

Is is a LiFePO4 variant, used in the automotive industry precisely because of its stability. I think Tesla use this chemistry in their cars. That's good enough for me.

    Re: Battery box from wood?

The box is portable, and gets strapped down and connected to the dc-dc charger in the bakkie. In the lounge it powers the tv/streaming/dstv/audio station via the inverter.

    I cut the boxjoints with...

    Re: Lithium vs Lead Acid

I suppose this discussion really has to do with the efficiency of LFP batteries vs. that of lead based ones. We know that LFP's can be discharged to a lower SOC. So that's a plus.

    I wonder if...

Yes, you're quite right, unforgivable misnomer. I decided that I would never use all three charging systems at the same time, so it makes no use to pack redundant equipment in an already heavy box....
