Awesome, now 3rd Bridge and Savuti just need to grow trees where it can be plugged in to charge.
Hehe, that echo 4 trailer is long gone.
From Port Nolloth down to Hondeklip Bay, you have to use the coastal road that you have highlighted. There seems to be mining activity or restoration between the road and coast, with locked gates...
If you in MM around 28 April, look out for the FJ Cruiser and come say hello!
Long day, crappy track.
Bad experience there last year [emoji24] No power, no service, noise from the township across from the camp.

Do you want a formal campsite or are you happy to camp wild?
You don’t say what type of bikes you ride….if it’s a Harley, skip Etosha [emoji1787][emoji1787] If it’s anything else, go and enjoy the place! Ignore broken infrastructure and go enjoy the animals.
I think, with respect, you know the answer already. Why would you want to take a fully loaded 4x2 through water crossings and deep sand and expect your mates in their fully loaded vehicles to recover...

I stopped there last year without a reservation and they were busy with renovations. It was close to 3pm and there was no other suitable accommodation available, so I moved on to their sister lodge...
What happened to the principle of as luxurious as possible, but as light as possible…..geez I would hate to tow these rigs thru the soft sand of Savuti or the water crossing of Moremi?
If you go search the forum under my name, you will find the pics I posted of Harry the Hyena biting thru my BFG tyre while at Mabua 4.
I wouldn’t camp there.
I did the pass a few weeks ago on the motorcycle and landed up cutting my tyre… pass and lodge were great.636916

Travelled thru both towns a few weeks ago, Calvinia has more accommodation options.
Pity they can’t even spell ‘Announcement’ correctly on their official notice!
I did this route earlier this year on my motorcycle. Covid tests going in and coming back into SA. Lots of roadworks, but absolutely stunning scenery. Had planned to stay at Kate’s Lodge, but it was...
Google Maps suggest these routes ….https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210930/461b2823d901c3b110762f77ece92664.jpg
You just need to decide on whether to do the R355 gravel road from ceres to calvinia, or to travel via the tar road via Clanwilliam. The rest of the way to the border is mostly tar.
Just add Upington into your heading and you have your route….
My 2c… it’s do-able, but why not go from KRS via Kubu to Maun? One day in Maun…. Shopping + Fuel…no makoro trip or flight? I would do one day less at Chobe and use it elsewhere, maybe Savuti?
Just keep an eye open for snakes at Elandsberg….we had a yellow cape cobra wanting to come inside.
We stayed at Elandsberg recently. While there we drove around the park and up / down the Gannaga Pass a few times. You don’t need a 4x4….. a normal high clearance 2x4 bakkie or SUV will do perfectly....
Get it installed. I have a set on my FJ for when I towed my echo 4. It will keep the caravan nose above the middlemannetjie when towing in sandy areas. Also keeps the vehicle and van level.
Hi Jaco
Trailer and caravan licenses that are attached externally are often stolen. I used to place the license on the side window of the caravan and then inside the door of the off-road trailer....
Open up google maps around that area and you will see the options available.
Jors, your FJ should also have an aircon button to deal with the heat [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]
I travelled across Lesotho in April. Entered on a Friday PM by Sani Pass and exited on the Sunday AM by Maseru Bridge. Did a R300 covid test on entering Lesotho and a R300 test on entering SA.
Beautiful….

Have you booked any of these places yet? If not, you can easily make the border from CT, leaving you with more time later in the week.
Luderitz, shark island is closed. You don’t want to camp at...
Take the new Jimny, it has 4x4, the urban cruiser is nice for shopping malls.
