Grand Cherokee Re: Grand Cherokee Suspension Query

Well, think about what it's doing. It's inflating the airbag up to its maximum so that the suspension is raised to its maximum. Obviously, it has to do this by pumping up the airbag very hard. So it...
  2. Re: Good quality portable 12v pure sine wave inverter

R1000 extra for local support and to keep local business's going seems a good deal.

EDIT: For example my cheap Android head unit I got off AliExpress packed up, now I have to pay for shipping back...

Grand Cherokee Re: Jeep 2.7CRD Fuel lines

Yip, so maybe places like Goldwagen

I actually have been pleasantly surprised with the cost of parts from Jeep themselves lately. So try them too.

Re: How big an inverter to run this?

You do get soft-start thingy's that make the start up current more acceptable. They use them on yachts a lot.

Grand Cherokee Re: OEM Rims - GC 2014 Overland

    18 inch or 20 inch?

Maybe that price for all 5 realistically?

I think it depends on the demand, there are Wrangler rims on sale for R3500 for the set.

What? How do you figure that? TakeAlot do not generally sell second hand goods?
  9. Discovery 3 Re: Tyre Size Options - All Terrain - Discovery 3 17" rim size (7J)

265/65/17 is probably the most widely available tyre size. So that helps too when far from home.

Go for the LT spec tyre, not a P spec.

    LT- equals light truck
    P - equals passenger.

    Re: Panels, too many choices

The flexi panels tend to vibrate in the slip stream and break the internal electric links, unless you glue them down directly to the roof.

Then you seem to get the very light weight fixed panels,...

Grand Cherokee Re: Grand Cherokee Suspension Query

I would think that the lower profile tyres would be more of an impact vs Air/Coil Springs.
  12. Re: The Volkswagen up! as a viable city car choice

Well don't trade a VW at Toyota and you will most likely do better. Or sell private, or give WeBuyCars a call. They are often 20K more than most other places.

Re: Can electric cars work in South Africa

An EV in isolation, does not make a lot of sense in South Africa.

But if you have a grid tie solar setup at home, and you can use your car as the battery bank, then that starts to make a lot of...
  14. Re: Coil spring advice - Ironman, Lovells, EFS any good?

Think you did the right thing.
  15. Re: Coil spring advice - Ironman, Lovells, EFS any good?

Iron man for if you running a load. They tend to be hard.

BDS or OME best from the others mentioned, EFS seems to be mixed reviews. This is based from what I have read only.
  16. Re: Jeep Cherokee 2.8 CRD engine replacement

Why not just buy something else?

    or another one?

Seems pointless pouring money into an already old vehicle which is not exactly known for reliability.

You can normally load the software onto a micro sd card and it goes into the front of the radio.

I would call the seller and try get the antennae, he probably still has it and just...

Re: Jeep Cherokee 2.4 any good ?

    No.

EDIT: its probably fine. But still no.

EDIT EDIT: friend has one and hates the gearbox. So test drive, has a weird manual automatic gearbox which is not very smooth.

Why do you have a D3 or D4 if its never been off road?
  23. Re: Energy experts....your thoughts please on mobile workshop

So why not a small gennie? Would fuel costs not be less than the overall spend on the system?

This just seems a complicated way of doing things.

EDIT: just re-read your initial comment of no...
  24. Re: Energy experts....your thoughts please on mobile workshop

What is your expected usage pattern.

Stop for an hour, short job, drive for 30 min and repeat?

a semi-modern alternator will not be overworked easily. They basically output max rating at all...
  25. Re: Can I run AT at the back and normal in the front

Long story short. Buy 2 as you planned, fit one to the spare as you said. Hope you don't get a puncture and if you do, just use it to get you home and no further. It will not break the system with...
  26. Re: Can I run AT at the back and normal in the front

Most places offer credit. Just buy the right tyres once.
  27. Re: Software upgrade on the emissions - Grand Cherokee

OK - so its a custom tune to delete the sensors.

Well, the GDE tune I used to sell is these days USD700, so I wont say its out of the question.

I'd be interested to hear the whole story though.
  28. Re: Software upgrade on the emissions - Grand Cherokee

    why do you need this?
  29. Re: Second Opinion on suggested DC/DC Charger and Aux Battery

    Agreed go to 4x4Direct.

WRND DC to DC. R2200 or NL unit, but much more expensive. Don't mount the DC-DC in the engine bay as it gets too hot.

Decent AGM 10oah battery if it will fit. I can...

    Re: goodyear wrangler duratrac

Its a good all weather tyre. I don't think it has strong enough sidewalls for our conditions.

To me its an aggressively tread normal AT.

Re: Solar system for off grid camping

Any time you use an inverter you will be using a LOT of your power reserves. So try not use any 220V if you can possibly.

2x 100W panels will be better from a practical point of view.

    How will...

Re: AC condenser Grand Cherokee CRD

It does - but normally only ever shows under UV light from what I understand.

I think the point here is don't assume its the air-con and the drive the Jeep causing further damage.

Is the fluid in your radiator tank still full?

If you want a decent aircon shop I can recommend IceBurg Aircons in Stikland.
