Re: Jimny Shopping list and prep work

I had the Eezi Awn on my Gen 3, and was very happy with it (I also have one for the Gen 4). I liked the way it was mounted, with rails that ran the length of the roof, spreading the load evenly. It...

A roll of white gold fits in there perfectly.

I made a cage for the other one to hold a 3m tow rope.

For training, Monty (Wizerd on this forum). If you feel you need to have a roof rack, I have been very happy with eezi-awn. frontrunner are also good.
  4. Re: Overlanding In Southern Africa With A Suzuki Samurai

Its going to cost more than the vehicle is worth to ship it to Africa and back.

You can get a decent 2nd hand Jimny for around $10000 US.
  5. Re: Overlanding In Southern Africa With A Suzuki Samurai

The fact that you are suggesting 33 or 35" tyres indicates to me that you are not familiar with the vehicle at all. You also won't find an F450 in Africa.

A samurai is not ideal for overlanding....

    Re: General Grabber AT3

Unfortunately with the Jimny even a small change in tyre size affects the consumption. And yes, I do take the difference in size into account in my calculations.

Re: Who said you cant over land in a Jimny...

It was a spur of the moment trip. If I got the opportunity to do the trip again, I probably wouldn't change a thing. Our biggest issue was carrying enough fuel. With 3 people and a fridge inside,...

Re: Who said you cant over land in a Jimny...

Absolutely. You have to pack more carefully, and consider the weight and volume of what you are taking. The biggest drawback is the ability to carry fuel. The range of a standard Jimny is around...

Re: Who said you cant over land in a Jimny...

I'm not sure how you are going to fit 2 kids and a 52l fridge. How many grownups?. The fridge takes up an entire seat.

I've done it with a fridge and 3 adults, and 2 adults 2 kids, but no fridge.

    Re: 2020 Jimny Shocks

A lot of us have had good results with the setup from Des-Sol. I don't think it is even worth the effort to try and get Suzuki to fix it.

Not correct. The shocks on the gen 4 are the same configuration as on the gen 3. The lengths may be different.
  15. Poll: Re: Learned GV 2.4 owners on the Highveld. What do you gooi into yours? 95 or 93?

Mine only ever got 93. No issues.

The minimum 95 is for coastal use.

Re: Engine rebuild vs jap import for 2010 Jimny

Rebuilds of the Suzuki motors can be costly, because the head uses stretch bolts, which need to be replaced.

Re: Engine rebuild vs jap import for 2010 Jimny

The stock M13A can be replaced with the M15A (Swift and old Ignis), M16A (Swift sport) or M18A (Liana - scarce). Either Zook Spares (Pretoria) or Wild 4x4 (Boksburg) would be able to help you. If you...

Re: Jimny tyres 215/75/15 vs std tyres and 40mm lift

215/80R15 is the biggest you can fit without a lift (4.6% bigger than stock). 215/75R15 is the best if you want to maintain your fuel consumption (1.5% bigger than stock). There are also a lot more...

Re: What size BFG's for Jimny?

I had 215/80R15's on, before I went up to 235/75R15's.

The effect on fuel consumption is quite severe. So if she is not planning to do really rough stuff, stick with 215/75R15.

Re: What size BFG's for Jimny?
