Re: Sun Visor - Prado 120

I've also been looking, even been trying scrap yards but people don't seem to be crashing their Prado's....
  3. Sticky: Re: Baviaans Kloof and Kouga Route Road Conditions

After lunch at Padlangs on Saturday I took the R332 gravel road (turnoff by Andrieskraal) towards Humansdorp before coming back to PE via the N2. We were quite pleasantly surprised - the road is...
  4. Sticky: Re: Baviaans Kloof and Kouga Route Road Conditions

I'm sure you'll be fine with those tyres on, just deflate a little. You shouldn't experience any tyre damage there. Just remember that the 70km from Kareedouw to Doringkloof takes about 4 or 5...
  5. Sticky: Re: Baviaans Kloof and Kouga Route Road Conditions

I'd say look at Kouga Kliphuis or Baviaans Lodge. Haven't been to Baviaans Lodge but I've been to Kouga Kliphuis a few times - your car will easily make it to both places on highway tyres. These...
  6. Sticky: Re: Baviaans Kloof and Kouga Route Road Conditions

What vehicle will you be in? The Rust-en-Vrede route (Kareedouw to Doringkloof) is quite scenic and from JBay takes about the same amount of time to get to Doringkloof as going the normal way via...

    Re: 120 Prado replacing OME

Where do you get Bilstein shocks from? Are there agents in PE?
  8. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

    That sucks...they're awesome vehicles though
  9. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

To build on what Hugo said, put your car in 4HLc (ie. centre diff locked or transfer case engaged) and turn your wheels to full lock and drive in a circle on your lawn or a piece of gravel; the tyres...
  10. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

    That's actually quite awesome
  11. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

It would be interesting with the pajero's if you could disconnect the centre diff lock switch from the gear lever and were able to switch it remotely
  12. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

Yes, I agree. Makes life far easier for the torque converter
  13. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

Thanks, I do understand the differences but refering to vehicles with low range the normal AWD car doesn't factor in here - it is usually the case of a centre diff or a transfer case
  14. Re: List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

haha, a bit out of my budget ;D keep 'em coming

Can the Disco's lock the centre diff properly or is it a case of braking wheels to send power around the place?
  15. List of vehicles with a centre differential and its benefits over a transfer case

More of a general discussion and debate...and thought it interesting, which vehicles have centre differentials and can be in low range with an open centre differential?

I was very surprised when I...

MediaRelease: Re: What Tyres to choose

It was at the Meadow 4x4, on the Elandsrivier road near Port Elizabeth

  18. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

The Kumho's were good tyres though, I agree with bfreesani. Mine also took punishment and I never aquaplaned with them - tread was very good at pushing out water in deep puddles
  19. Re: Moving to Mud-Terrains? What should I be aware of?

Dunlops and Archilles are notorius for their bad grip in the wet. When I had Kumho's on my bakkie, the grip in the wet was noticibly worse but not to a point where I felt it was dangerous or scary

Drove through from Doornkloof to Addo. Very few water crossings and none of them were deep. Easy going all the way. From this thread

  22. Re: Condition of D8018 (bottom of Naudes Neck)

Judging by the condition of some of the other "short-cuts" in the area that I took, it might actually be worse. I was there recently from Tenahead to Rhodes and that section of Naudes Nek is in...

An example of the Kareedouw (Rust-en-Vrede route) route for those looking. Some good information here

  25. Sticky: Baviaans Kloof and Kouga Route Road Conditions

    Hi all

I see a lot of threads where people (especially people outside of the EC) ask about the road conditions in the Baviaans and have seen some suggestions that there be such a thread, Like...

    Re: Land Cruiser wanted

What are you wanting out of it? 4x4 toy? Touring vehicle?

I saw a nice 2008 Patrol (Petrol) for 150k from a dealer in PE and was in good condition...with the right mods it would be a beast

    Re: Land Cruiser wanted

Why not a Prado 120 instead of the 80 or 100 series? It's a bit lighter, a lot cheaper and quite capable. Also very comfortable. Mine is on 255000km and I'm still happy. No issues with the auto box,...
  33. Re: Rhodes trip report - a stayover at Kinmel and a visit to Tiffendell

I don't think so, no. It doesn't look like there were camping fascilities. The accomodation is fairly cheap though
  34. Re: Rhodes trip report - a stayover at Kinmel and a visit to Tiffendell

Nope, not too surprised about the brown, I know it's winter
  35. Re: Rhodes trip report - a stayover at Kinmel and a visit to Tiffendell

    Wow, what a contrast.
