    Re: VW Touareg Pictures Thread

Teaching my son and daughter (9 and 11) to drive. They each drove about 10 kms. Quite impressed, my daughter was very level headed and well in control, easily handling the car up to 40 km/h. I let...

Re: Discovery 4 - petrol vs diesel

From discussions I had with Walter the maintenance on the petrol is WAY less than on the diesel, especially as your mileage increase. Overall I would say the petrol is a cheaper vehicle to own...

Re: Discovery 4 - petrol vs diesel

Ja, probably indicated on the computer, I cannot see that that is achievable in the real world. That said, my V8's computer did once indicate 10 km/L over about 20km, after basically free wheeling...

Re: Discovery 4 - petrol vs diesel

My V8 gave 5km/L in town and 6.5 open road (120km/h cruising). This was calculated tank to tank.

SDV6 claims are about 8-9 km/L in town and 10 km/L open road IIRC.

There's been a few threads on...

    Re: W205 service extension

I had my C250cdi serviced at Hattingh Motors in Centurion. Well priced, good service, Merc specialists. I know you can do it yourself, but sometimes it is easier to farm it out.

    Damn, I miss that...

  7. Re: What to look for when buying used Touareg V6 TDI

Not to quibble but I think it should be relatively easy to get a 2012 or 2013 model with around 100k on the clock for R300 to R400k.

In terms of what to look for, I haven't had mine very long and...

  9. Re: Show us what you’ve done with your New Discovery (5)

Good to hear, it makes the D5 with 20" wheels a lot more attractive from a practical point of view (although I have to say that even my D4 with 255/55/19 tyres never really gave me problems for my...

Re: X class no more! End of a new class!

Ja, I was browsing AutoTrader yesterday and diverted from the G-wagons to the X-class. Noted a X250 Power 4-motion for R520k and less than 20 000km IIRC. Looks like they are going for big discounts...

    Re: Treg Owners

Ja, I've got to agree with this. It is also what I normally do. Buy in the 40 000 to 80 000 km range and then put on mileage to way over 200 000 km. When shopping for the Touareg I looked at a lot of...

    Re: Treg Owners

Kyk, ek gee nie om om geld te spandeer om die Touareg op die pad te hou nie. Toe ek hom gekoop het, het ek geweet daar kan dalk uitgawes wees. Geen probleem daarmee nie, op die balans dink ek steeds...

Thanks, for the info. I've also had a suspicion there is a hairline crack somewhere, let's see what they find tomorrow. Apparently they idled it yesterday for about 2 hours and didn't detect diesel...

    Re: Treg Owners

I am a big Toyota fan, I've done hundred of thousands of kms in a range of them, but the Prado 150 is, how do I put it? Ugly to look at, underwhelming in performance, and a disappointment to drive...

    Re: Treg Owners

OK, so, I picked up the Touareg last night. Drove about 100 km today and the car "used" a quarter tank of diesel. Got home, checked and the V was partially filled with diesel. Just to collect some...

It's had a coolant leak for a long time, so the wife said I can't travel to Mpumalanga / Limpopo / KZN with it. Good point, because you don't want to be stuck next to the road with the car, the risk...

Re: High milage 200 series Cruisers as first 4x4

Don't know what price you're looking at, but I'm guessing it is a 2008 or 2009 model. If you're willing to look at a 10 year old vehicle you might get a 120 Prado for the same price with less mileage.

    Discovery 4 Re: Buying a Disco 4 V8 - Questions

I bought the vehicle with it already installed, but it had the LR logo on it, so I'm pretty sure it came from them directly.

As far as I could see there was no air restriction. I would not be...
