Would it not be safer to get a newer version of Cannon's software?

Re: Electrical Queston - Driving Lights

Nobody is talking about rear fog lamps. Those lights you want to have on are the front fog lamps, and are a serious issue to anybody in a relatively low car, or even normal cars approaching you over...

    Re: Ranger tyres & Botswana

The problem with buying tires just for a trip and then storing them for the next one is that they don't last very long. I certainly wouldn't consider a high-mileage tire like BF or Cooper for that...

    Re: Nikon 70-300 mm lense

If you don't have another lens in that range, maybe swop it for an AF-S version?

    Re: Recovery tracks

The idea looks good, although very similar to military sand ladders which have been in use since the first world war or before.

I use different software to yours, but I have found significant...

Re: Lethlakane - Kubu island - Gweta

If you take the green route on the map above, it will be easy.

Even on the blue route, the sand will not be an issue, but if the pans are wet and you break through, good luck.

    Re: specially for Pajero owners

Yes, I do drive a Patrol. But I don't think it falls in a different category.
It is an older-tech vehicle, probably more comparable with the gen 2, but the fact remains that pretty much all the...

Re: ASPW's latest build in Oz

From the point of view of impacting the vehicle's performance and longevity, for sure.

From the point of view of having living and working space (and especially when you consider that his work is...

    Re: specially for Pajero owners

While I hear what you are saying, I don't necessarily agree that this is unreasonable, and certainly it is not unusual.
Anybody who overlands with kids (whatever their age) realizes that staying...

Re: ASPW's latest build in Oz

As far as photography and video quality goes, he is far better than any other one-man-band I have seen.

I love the information he provides, as he gets to play with things that just aren't in my...

    Re: Recovery points

Lots of people have lots of issues. I think the pin on one of those is a better recovery point than 90% of the "specialist" options on the market, presuming that the connection between the hook and...

Which Bilstein model? If it's the B6, keep in mind that that shock can be dismantled and serviced, thus if you intend keeping the vehicle for a long time, they could well work out cheaper over your...

Thanks, but that doesn't really help, so let me re-phrase:

How does one recognise murram without stopping and getting out of the car?

    Re: 9mm pistol holster

Small of back is a great option for a larger gun if you work mostly standing up.

It's a pain if you sit down a lot though, and is especially less than ideal in a car. Virtually impossible to draw...

    Re: Bilstein B6 Shocks

Also, if you do spend the extra effort of buying through Mikem, they can re-valve the shocks for you, and thereby change how firm they are.

They also have a shock dyno, so they can test how firm...

Re: Battery isolator vs DC-DC charger

Not really. I even once made a new stainless steel cylinder for one of these, but the valves and seals were so buggered it was just a waste of time.

That is the issue with the cheap compressors...

Re: Help Me Inteperate Dyno Results
