    Heard too many horror stories of recon/rebuild on the Puma engines.

    That price is from sump to cover, doesn't include turbo, injectors, etc. So another R20K if these need replacing?

    with the Puma engines, it's safer to go for a new crate engine from Ford, ballpark costs of R56K.

    If you remove them, then you could fit Gullwing doors and I'm sure they will use the existing holes, or at least cover them.

    Yep, same thing happened to me in my previous Td5, turned out to the CPS.

    You can drive it like this, but at some point it will fail completely and then you won't be able to start the car.
