  1. Re: 4x4 self drive hire - insurance does not seem to cover accidents

I also fail to see the problem. The speed limits are correct and fair.

Why the need to go faster than that and why should the rental company carry all the risk if someone is in a hurry which is...

    Re: Stockpoort Border Post

The GPS does not pick up Stockpoort. We had the same issue before. Just follow the road signs like in the old days, you cannot miss it. ;)

Pity you only had experience with the petrol version.

We lasted 8 months with ours due to the gear hunting and consumption, but almost 7 years with the diesel Prado. I still miss the diesel...

We installed evacuated tubes end of last year. They are very effective and we had water up to 78 degrees on a hot day.

  8. Re: Kruger travel time - Letaba to Berg en Dal

Agreed. This is what we do when moving camps as well. We don't speed, but we don't dilly dally either. We will obviously stop for major sightings.

    Re: Southern Namibia 2020

In my humble opinion, it is a lot of driving and not enough rest days. We did a very similar trip in December, 5700 km in 16 days, and we were exhausted in the end.

    The roads to and from...

    Re: 2019 Fortuner Facelift?

True. How many times on the forum people moan about old tech, or lack of this or that LUXURY feature.. Then car manufacturers listen, the prices are too high. ::)

    Re: Mobilodge & Amarok V6

That is the theory. In the wet almost impossible. The Amarok will be fine, but the Mobilodge are going to make things exceptionally difficult when it is wet due to the weight.

    Re: Mobilodge & Amarok V6

Towing in the CKGR when it is wet is very, very tough. And April can be the month with the heaviest rain.

Edit: we were also there in April 2015 per photo above.

    Re: Bush lapa miskruier review

We don't have no 1 and 2 (and never will).

What we use the least, I would say, is all the wing sides. The side used most is the one parallel to the fridge slide.

  31. Namibia, looking for fly-in lodge recommendations

Bit of a strange request from me, I know::)

We are looking for a nice lodge to go to in April for about a week. Any area but not malaria area as there will be 2 very young kids in the group.
