    Re: Home distilling rum

Diluted and busy airing after colour and taste tweaks and am starting to feel happy about my efforts. As it seems I can do this with predictable results I might just settle on this as my go to "dark...

    Re: Home distilling rum

Mate of mine uses one of those, reckons it is very effective and if fitted with a ceramic dome will scrub the colour out of a wood "matured" distillate. I have one of those cartridges lying around...

    Re: Home distilling rum

I use a casuarina and ( I suspect some sweet thorn acacia ) locally produced charcoal, with two coffee filters in the makeshift two litre bottle. Crush the charcoal to make smaller, coarse lumps and...

    Re: Home distilling rum

So the first batch of this has a distinctly different taste I found, almost as if it is more "earthy" if I can call it that? And smell is also different, it smells soft and almost fruity.

    I am...

    Re: Which Braai?

I don't think a steel plate will make much difference. If you have the fire table like I posted, you are constantly making coals anyway with a fire on the side so the concern is a minor one.

Re: What are you braaing tomorrow?

I am "braaing" nothing tomorrow as we cook enough on a fire, all the time.

For the same reason I refuse to buy flowers on Valentines day, I refuse to join the "heritage" thing and klap a braai.

Re: Road from Mkuze to Mabibi

    Re: Hi guys....your thoughts...

I seem to recall that a Nissan 1400 engine and gearbox was one of the conversions the guys did but I might be wrong?

My suggestion though is to rather sell the Lada and get something else.

    Re: Home distilling rum

Airing is highly beneficial for rum ( if one doesn't have the luxury of a cask and time) and so is some time in sunlight, especially when doing "forced" aging with wood chips.
