    Re: LEOPARD scare at CKKOR02

    Thanks for reporting Pat.

Yep wild animals can be so unpredictable and we need to keep being reminded that in places like the CKGR, we are visitors in their environment.

    Re: Ruaha

I have been getting the strong impression that those afraid of independent travel to the rest of Africa are diminishing quite rapidly, especially the slightly younger generation.

Free self-drive tourist travel to the rest of Zimbabwe is not being allowed yet from Kazangula and Vic Falls, as far as I can establish.

How lovely to be able to read a new trip report about a Zambian and Ruaha trip during these times. A stout effort, thank you ;D.
  12. Re: T4A - hows that new atlas coming along?

The editors have been busy with the greatly upgraded new version for a few months now and I imagine should possibly be released this year. They have been looking for representative photos.

    Re: Borders open?

Borders by road are only open for those that can prove they are travelling for business or commercial reasons. Not open by land for tourists.

  22. Re: Zimbabwe in October - where to go - where to book Mana Pools

There is now a land-accessed border post between Sudan (Waidi Halfa) and Egypt. Feeds north and southwards. Much simpler than the old ferry. Lots of info out there - Google.

Re: Cost of Cape to Cairo

I would budget on somewhere between US$ 50-100 for two people per day whilst on the road via East Africa. This would include all the national parks and other expensive detours. Camping mostly.
