    Re: Bouncy bounce

Are both vehicles fairly low km?
Or could it be worn suspension or shocks?
I have never experienced this with our Glider Hunter trailer with RTT. etc. loaded.
  2. Re: Go Camp "No Excuses" Camping Gear Rental / Hire

To add to my response ... would this "work" on a double can where the load bay is much shorter?
  3. Re: Go Camp "No Excuses" Camping Gear Renal / Hire

PM sent re older vehicle fitment in KZN ... ??
SWAMBO is starting to struggle with the RTT on the trailer and to a much lesser degree - so am I.
    Looking at alternatives.

Re: New tyres wanted - 265/70R16

I think that OP was asking if any MEMBERS of the forum were selling new tyres - good on him for wanting to support members I say.

As Dirk pointed out in a different post, the so called...
  5. Re: 10 Reasons Why you should NOT build a Heavy 4WD Tourer

THAT explains why we broke the rear end of the Isuzu chassis on our last overland trip through Namakwa Eco Trail and Richtersveld and the lightweight Glider trailer was just fine!!!
    Good video and...
  6. Re: Long Term Caravaning with 2010 Isuzu 3,0 LX 4 x4

We have traveled extensively through Southern Africa with our OLD Suuz. (1998 KB 280 DT D/C) which I bought second hand on 380 000 Km from a non-member in Pretoria about 10 or 11 years ago.
    He was a...

    Re: Pigs

I agree with all the above comments about garbage being left behind! ALL natural areas, conservation areas, reserves - whatever you wish to call them - should operate on a "carry in" - "carry" out...
  8. Re: Richtersveld - possible in an Iveco 4x4 motorhome?

    Just do it.
We have been to many places that we were told we could not do with our small trailer and RTT mounted on it.
Not without some "adventures" in the process sometimes - however - Just DO...

MediaRelease: Re: JHB to DBN on Dirt Roads

It would be very interesting to do a trip one way or the other on non-main or preferably gravel roads since we have a daughter living in Midrand / Centurion area and it would make a good alternative...

    Re: Sous vide cooking

    Yes Fluffy i hear you!
This sounds and probably IS great but why cook for all that time using power (electricity, gas or fire?)

Just use the Haybox, Haybag, Cooker cushion, Wonder Box or any of...

Re: First real camping trip. Advice needed.

You say that hiring a trailer is too expensive, but I think that a trailer in your case at least would be essential to avoid some of the problems mentioned above.
Buy a cheapie from Makro or...

    Re: Braaiwood into KNP

It is still a threat and we need to keep aware with eyes on it.
Maybe just part of nature ?

If human induced - THEN we need to do something about it.

    Re: Braaiwood into KNP

    This does not bode well.

I think that more research and specific info. is needed.

Trying hard to Get back to OT!!!!

I doubt that bringing into KNP (LOCAL) dry braai wood is going to make...

    Re: Braaiwood into KNP

I was NOT aware off these issue at all !
If that is the case then I FULLY support NOT taking wood into KNP.

However - you kind of burn it quite soon - I suppose you only need one or (probably...

    Re: Braaiwood into KNP

I have never had a problem taking wood into kNP from Komatipoort side - I doubt it would be any different from any other entrance route.
  16. Re: Richtersveld - possible in an Iveco 4x4 motorhome?

If you including the Community section of Richtersveld (Part of the Namakwa Eco Trail) the I would avoid going down the 4x4 route to (and back the same way) Kamgab on the river bank.
    There is one...

Re: KZN GTG Killarney 8-10 November 2019

It is a way ahead time wise, but yes - camping.
We will be there subject only to Erica's health situation at that time.
Put us down as confirmed (I wont even need to buy diesel!!!)

    As you...

Re: Average cost of service for double cabs

I would say that there is no "average" - but that is from own experiences and circumstances.

With my very old 1998 Isuzu 280 DT D/C (on its second engine at a total of almost 587 000 Km now) -...

Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

We love Mkuze - the problem (For US) is the once off entrance fee - so unless we stay a good few days, then - too expensive. :-[

Many years ago we stayed there - still in a ground tent at the time...
  27. Re: Long term camping in Kruger Park - how is it done?

So it is NOT "permanent" camping that you are referring to then.
    Rather permanent structures ... right?
So then - apologies if I misunderstood your post.

If such a setup is worth R 5K per night...

  29. Re: Long term camping in Kruger Park - how is it done?

I think that is a different situation to the one under discussion unless I misunderstand your post.

Re: So who is going camping this weekend?

A few members are meeting up at Richards bay caravan park for the long weekend - probably a small group I suspect.
    Join us?
  31. Re: Long term camping in Kruger Park - how is it done?

I have never heard of a maximum time being set for staying in KNP, but I doubt they would allow "permanents" as such.
I think that as with many other conventional caravan park type places there may...

    Re: August long weekend camping

    @Heinz
Just remember the once off entry fee!
Makes a "one night stand" a little on the pricey side ....

A four-day long weekend or a week stay - more economical.
So, I would go earlier or leave...
