Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

I got advice from a lawyer on this one. The advice was to carry on being friendly and diplomatic, but not to concede an inch. The approach seems to be paying off. I am cautiously positive for the...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

This is pretty much what I told him. I think he also finally understands that pre-accident condition doesn't just mean 4 wheels pointing in roughly the same direction and some new panels.

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

    Thanks.

I'll follow up on that. Also with the manufacturer via my local agent.

I've now received a quote for the rectification work. It's more than twice the original work. The assessor has now...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

    Thanks. Some useful advice here.

I may do that. I've also arranged with the workshop manager at my agent to have a look, whatever that means. Do all Dekra Centres do post-repair checks or do...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

So, now 2 1/2 months after the accident and the car is at another panel beater. I dropped it off and spoke to their estimator. The previous work done was poorer than I had thought. At least one of...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

My dealer has been very helpful and open, although as I said earlier, they did state that they don't specialise in bodywork. I spoke to the manufacturer's customer care line who suggested two more...

I have requested this and they have agreed. I've also requested an equivalent vehicle, not a Kwid.

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

My insurance now wants a second panel beater to "rectify" the mess left by the first one.

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

Two more noted over the weekend, with the car standing in my garage. There's a slight warp in the window frame where it meets the door. This suggests to me that the new door was put into a press to...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

Yesterday afternoon I had a list of 24 issues. Today, after going through the car with the insurance assessor, it is 39 issues, many with photos. More photos to come this afternoon.

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

This is the thing. The panel beater who has done the work is supposedly insurance and OEM approved. The insurance company is taking them to task on this, not paying and will be demanding a courtesy...

Re: Poor repairs after an accident.

So far, my insurance company's approach has been exemplary. When everything is sorted, I want to contact the top brass to commend the person in their customer service department. This, of course, all...

    Poor repairs after an accident.

I was involved in an accident at the beginning of July in my platkar. We were T-boned, taking a hit on both doors on the right hand side, with some damage to the front fender (amazing how plastic...
  16. Re: What did you accidentally bring back after a camping trip?

The best part is that there's likely to still be some in some or other nook or cranny. It's possibly the only thing that doesn't leak out of a Landy.

Re: Disco 300Tdi problem on cold mornings

I was waiting for that one >:D. I tried this and it didn't do anything.

I thought of that, but it it happens when it isn't cold enough for fuel to gel.

    Checked them and no problems...

Re: Disco 300Tdi problem on cold mornings

I don't think it's either of these. It doesn't go on for very long (a few metres, not a few kays) and I doubt if the thermostat has opened yet, based on experience of trying to get it to open at...

Re: Disco 300Tdi problem on cold mornings

Fuel temp sensor? A 300 doesn't have one of those.

The brake vacuum unit is a mechanical unit which, intermittently produces vacuum and leaks oil.

The Little Black Box should pick up a voltage...

Re: Disco 300Tdi problem on cold mornings

Coolant temp sensor is maybe a bit of a misnomer. It has a sender unit to the temperature gauge and a sensor which disables the air conditioner if the engine is too hot.

Disco 300Tdi problem on cold mornings

I think I posted something about this last winter. It's now got cold enough for me to be looking into this again.

    The symptoms are as follows:

The truck starts easily and pulls easily from...
  22. Keeping a battery charged outside the vehicle.

A while back I moved my 2nd battery out of the engine bay because of space and heat constraints and installed a 100Ah AGM, with an HCDP 30A DC/DC charger. Around the box I have Brad Harrisons for...

Re: What makes an AT tyre?

Makes sense, although in my case, my vehicle is a daily driver, so spends most of its life at less than maximum load and I tend to travel light when I do travel. The Yokohamas with a 111 load rating...

This is what I suspect as well. To stir things up a bit more, I have begun to wonder whether tread patterns are more about form than function. Obviously, it's not all for show, but how many...

    What makes an AT tyre?

I've recently changed from BFG ATs to the new Yokohama Geolandar G015 ATs. So I've gone from an aggressive tread to a much less aggressive one. On road they're a lot smoother and quieter and...

Re: Discovery: What have you done with your Discovery today?

Last weekend I had a go at rebuilding the driver's seat. There were a few challenges introduced by an "expert" who had worked on it in the past. It's now firm and almost comfortable. Still looking...
