    Re: PSD008 playing up?

Follow Fluffy's advice as in post #2 and put the charger in power supply mode.

Your battery will still charge, even if it takes a bit longer to reach fully charged status.
    If the battery bubbles...

Re: Solar panel diodes and more.

Nope, that one is too light to handle that size panel's current under high temperature conditions.
A 10A version will do just fine - and as ekkekan pointed out a schottky would be even better....

Re: Solar panel diodes and more.

I would try to get at least a 10A current rating.
The voltage rating can be as low as 100V, but higher is also fine.

Edit: Perhaps a shop that sells solar panels for campers may have a broken...

Re: Solar panel diodes and more.

You can use almost any typical silicon diode or Schottky diode.
Choose one that can handle some 50% more than the current that the panel can produce.

  9. Re: Aux Batteries for bakkie/canopy camping set-up

My experience is limited to two ACDelco Voyagers (deep cycle) and a generic SMF100, presumably FNB, also deep cycle. They did not impress, so neither of these would make the recommended list anyway....

Indeed a very detailled description of your setup!

  11. Re: Solar charge controller connected whilst alternator charging

I would not recommend anyone to do that test.

A solar panel delivers a specific (limited) current which is very different to the vehicle's battery/alternator providing the current. If it works,...

You connect both of your fridges to mains AND battery - the switching over is automatically done for you by the Engels themselves. At least that is how my 60l Engel worked when I had it.

  31. Re: Can I use any smart charger for Lithium batteries?
