Re: South Namibia - first Namibia trip advice

    There is always next year.

I did the South of Namibia in April this year, it was a great trip.

Re: Will Defender restoration be an option ?

I have seen restored Defenders selling for high prices in Joburg, so could also be a good investment.

Freelander II Re: Larger tires for freelander 2

    Ok,interesting, thanks.

The rims for one of the XC models would probably be better, ie stronger, you need 1000kg rims. FL2 is not light.

But I once priced new Volvo 17" rims for my FL2, they...

Discovery 4 Re: Stuck in off-road height

OK, you get into a new set of menus if you keep your finger on the Valet switch for more than 20 seconds.

A lot of interesting things there, but it does not seem as if you can get error codes. ...

Discovery 4 Re: Stuck in off-road height

I don't believe that this is generally true, I have been offroad and to far out places in the company of other D3's and D4's a number of times, and I have not personally come across a suspension...

Discovery 4 Re: Stuck in off-road height

Hmm, my 2014 Pre-Facelift D4 is a bit different, has a different radio system, so can't get to that menu.

Will do a bit more research.

Re: JMPD hotline to report traffic offenses

But do they do anything about it ?

I have seen Minibus Taxi's do absolutely crazy stuff, but is it worth bothering to send in a video if they don't do anything ?
  8. Re: INMARSAT AIRTIME VOUCHERS - IsatPhone Pro and IsatPhone 2

Also, do those vouchers work on any Inmarsat Prepaid SIM ?

Or does it have to be with a specific ISP ?

And, are they valid from activation date, or from date of purchase ?

    Sure, that is valid.

But unfortunately even ole Alice next door is going to get computerised climate control, it's happening all over.

Discovery 4 Re: Stuck in off-road height

Sure. But then why do all the LC200 owners feel that they have to lift the suspension ? With all the disadvantages that this entails.

    Including the back-breaking ride.

    So it's not as simple...

Freelander II Re: Larger tires for freelander 2

I see, you are talking about 15" rims on an FL1, don't think that you could do that on an FL2. FL2 minimum is probably 16", even with the angle grinder :-)

Discovery 4 Re: Stuck in off-road height

That is a little simplistic, what about, for example :

    1) Lowering the car so that an 85 year old lady can get in,

    2) Increasing the height to extended height when you are going over big rocks...

Re: Can tyres make SUCH a big difference

Hmm, I moved from Goodyear Duratrac 255/55r19's to BFG k02 265/65r18's, so a slightly bigger wheel, speedo now more accurate.

But my fuel consumption seems to be somewhat worse, anyone else found...
  19. Discovery 4 Re: Disco 4 - Is it worth the headache to look at buying one

Pretty good, I got 14L/100km recently with a D4 SDV6 at 100kmh on the GPS, but I was towing a Boskriek and had a Tyre on the roof.

It is ok, just a bit slow going through the mountain passes (Akkedispas, etc).

The last 2 or 3 km's is also a bit rough, but not a problem.

Did it in April with a Boskriek.

Yes, some people have a interesting view of police performance.

For a non-life threatening situation you may be lucky if they arrive in a week.

Re: Insurance reject stolen vehicle claim.

Does that wording actually mean anything ?

Inform police AFTER instituting claim ?

Should be "inform police within six hours of any incident leading to a claim"

You can also leave them in the sun to warm up, that gives them a bit more energy.
