Re: Hilux Legend 50 - With Pics

I reckon the suspension is closer to a R100k for the Raptor. Maybe even more.

Look, I think the GR guys can build a special Hilux. But please, none of that black bonnet and red stickers rubbish....
  2. Re: Land Cruiser 70/79 Double Cab Modifications Thread

Peter, if you're heavily loaded that is probably a bit low. Rather go up to 2.4 or 2.5 (or even more if you're really heavy) and see how the tyres look when the bakkie is loaded. If the bulge is the...

    Re: Landcruiser 76 build

Ja-nee, hulle se dit laat die 76 soos 'n 80 ry.. Maar, ek is redelik seker dit gaan NIE goedkoop wees nie..

    Re: Is this it?

I think the idea is cool, but practically it must be terrible. There was a video with Anthony Joshua and this V8 Defender - he just couldn't fit in it. Now, he's 6'6" or something, so fair enough....

    Re: Is this it?

I agree that times change and tech improves. But a few points here:

    1. Have you ever seen a racer with air suspension?
    2. The Defender is the proverbial tortoise and the Disco the hare, yes the...

    Re: Kgalagadi trip:Nossob booking

This is the advice you should be following. The websites are very clear about the amount of people allowed on a stand. And this rule in fact applies to all Sanparks parks.

    I find it surprising...

Re: Can tyres make SUCH a big difference

Bigger tyres are often substantially heavier - especially if you're switching from an HT to an AT tyre. And even more so if you're suddenly switching from a normal tyre to an LT spec tyre.

    If I...

    Re: New 2019 Triton

I think part of the fuel consumption is probably just down to size, one of the biggest influences on fuel consumption is aerodynamics, and the Amarok is significantly wider than the Triton. It's also...

    Re: Pretoria to Livingstone

You can easily do the trip in a platkar with a normal caravan. With a little care and driving a bit slower because of possible animals and potholes. From Kazangula to Livingstone is also tar.

    Re: Pretoria to Livingstone

That sums it all up. To add, we have done Kasane (Senyati) to Pretoria in a day on a few occasions, but it isn't exactly pleasant - long day on the road. It is also easier coming back, because the...

MediaRelease: Re: Ford Ranger Raptor - Birth of a New Breed

I agree, it looks cool. But don't buy it in black, I saw one in black over the weekend and it needs a brighter colour. Well, then again, maybe it was just a real "Rapter" Raptor... ;D

MediaRelease: Re: Ford Ranger Raptor - Birth of a New Breed

I think the rumour was started here on the forum. Not sure there are any facts to back it up. But they are decreasing their dealer footprint.

    Re: Canvas Family tent

Ryan, see if you can find some youtube videos of the Blackwolf Turbo 300 - it's the same tent. It sets up VERY easily and is also very easy to let down and pack away. IMO, the basic fittings and...

Douglas, this is basically the same tent I was talking about - and I agree; it's awesome. I think he one from C&C is a bit newer though - it has 3x poles for the veranda which is better for...

Re: The new Nikon Z6 Mirrorless

Ja, I just think they're quoting some fishy numbers. Sure the Canon EOS 6D has sold more than the EOS R or RP on Amazon, it has been on the market for a LOT longer, the same applies for the Sony A7...

    Re: Canvas Family tent

Turbo 300 from Camp and Climb. Packs away a lot smaller than the OzTent and is a lot quicker and easier to setup than the traditional dome tents. It's a fantastic tent.

3x3 might be a bit small...

Re: LC76 second spare tyre options?

Yes, this is a definite downside, but I think it will help to at least take some strain and weight off the rear door?

    I don't really think there's any other option for a 76. I certainly don't...

    Re: Ultimate Cruiser?

I also think the 80 was a high water mark for Cruiser design. But he was very attached to his old lady, so sentimentality obviously played a role. But he seems to be doing the right thing with almost...

Re: LC76 second spare tyre options?

I'm not sure a tilting rack will work - with a 33 inch tire like a lot of people are fitting on the 76, the weight of the tire and rim becomes a real issue. So the rack will need to be very heavy and...

  26. Re: Land Cruiser 70/79 Double Cab Modifications Thread

There you go Peter, so you're getting about 5.3km/l.. Every little bit counts in a Cruiser.. ;D
  27. Re: Land Cruiser 70/79 Double Cab Modifications Thread

Peter, have you checked your odo against a GPS? If I remember correctly you also have larger tyres? If so, you're probably getting up to 10% better consumption than what your odo is telling you. The...

Re: Land Cruiser 76 Stationwagon fuel tank

Interessant, watse krag en torque hoop jy om te kry? En wat gaan die Safari weeg? V8 76 is 2.3 ton sonder enige ekstras. Ek reken meeste van hulle is maklik oor 3 ton as hulle toer.

  33. MediaRelease: Re: Discovery Sport enhanced for family adventure

It's a good looking car, but without low-range, and if you're not going to take it off-road, I'd rather look at one of the German competitors - Q5, X3 or GLC..
