Re: Safety checks when buying second hand.

The problem with 15W40 is the startup viscosity is too high, 0W or 5W would have been acceptable but 15W is not on. The 40 hot rating should be correct for summer temps in most of Sa but may be a...
  4. Re: Suzuki Jimny vs Renault duster 1.5dci 4x4 for farm roads

That's exactly what I was thinking, for doing lots of mileage the Duster looks more comfortable and will definitely have far better fuel efficiency.

Also the Jimny generally sells for a hefty...
  5. Re: Why we hugely regret buying used from Bush Lapa Gauteng North

    Very disappointing experience.

I'm very surprised Bush Lapa HQ is happy to allows their product and services to be so poorly represented by one of their dealers. Even if it is a used item I'd have...

  7. Re: Bad experience with local supplier - advice needed please!

The op's request was perfectly reasonable and well within the scope of competency of any half decent business or employee with at least a few brain cells.

What really let them down wasn't that...

    Re: Service 2014 Golf 7 1.4 tsi

Surely the cambelt was replaced when they redid the engine so replacing it again after only 2yrs not even 20,000km is a waste of money?

But whatever the case is, if the vehicle is no longer under...

    Re: I bought a lemon

When it comes to 2hnd motors an import would probably be best but a scrap yard engine should also be decent.

The problem though is especially the scrap yards they don't always advertise all their...

    Re: Eskom fixed price

That's rough, surely they don't charge everyone that same monthly base rate, there'd be riots?

    What municipality is that?

Re: Buying an ML 350 CDI advice

I'm sure there was another guy in the forum with an ML that had a lot of costly repairs including the suspension before he gave up and sold it. He had a thread about it.

    The parts prices you are...

Re: Buying an ML 350 CDI advice

From what I have read these are nice vehicles but when they break hugely expensive to repair.

Why not get a Freelander II, owners rave about them, similar size but way more capable off road and by...

    Re: No volvo.

They don't make any genuine 4x4 is the simple answer and true for many brands that may make decent SUV's that can go off road to a degree but do not make any true 4x4 models.
  20. Re: Bad experience with local supplier - advice needed please!

  21. Re: Discovery 4 SCV6 loss of coolant - looking for more information to solve problem

Op make sure you top up with compatible coolant to what is currently in the cooling system, if unsure probably safer to just top up with distilled water.

Re: Thoughts on Binoculars, by Phil Ridgwell

    Re: Gear changing issues.

Sounds like a bad slave or master cylinder. I'd first look for any signs of leaks in the system, if there's nothing obvious then do a fluid change/bleed.
If that doesn't help then perhaps the next...
