Re: A question for the clever guys.

Depends what you consider to be low kms.

    R340 000 over 72 months will cost you R6800 /month.
  2. Re: Stainless steel braai grids - do's and dont's

Burn it properly, then while hot newspaper rub it so most of the gunk falls off. Let it cool.
Place it in a outside sink if you have one and spray with oven cleaner, generously. I use one that says...
  3. Re: Stainless steel braai grids - do's and dont's

Because the wire brush pits the stainless or it leaves mild steel residue behind. Then the mild steel in the pits or the residue rusts, not the actual stainless.

    I do stainless steel balustrades....

  6. Re: Stainless steel braai grids - do's and dont's

I wash my stainless grids with soap and water. nothing like a shiny stainless grid! As mentioned the wire brush will cause it to rust, unless you use a stainless wire brush. They exist but are hard...

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

They do wear pretty fast, thats why I went with BFs on swambos ranger as she drives mostly tar, with the odd dirt road and kruger trip.

Re: Noisy Cooper ST Maxx on Patrol

I had STT pro on a disco once. Noisy as hell, pulls to the left, but boy did they perform off road! One good offroad session with them and suddenly the noise doesn't bother you anymore. We got lost...

    Re: Sanding garage doors

If the doors were only oiled previously you need to sand by hand. Good old hard labor. If previously varnished, you can apply paint stripper and remove with a putty knife.

Re: Bathroom breaks at night in Botswana!

Still, a limb is done enough. Put your right leg in cast for a week, imagining it is amputated, or a prosthetic.

Also recently at the Malelane staff camp a leopard killed a young boy playing outside. Late afternoon just as the sun was setting. Leopard grabbed the boy and moved into the bush. Leopard got chased...
  18. Offroad ethics for the responsible overlander and traveller.

So following the outcome of another thread of mine, there is certainly an unwritten code of cunduct / rules of the road for overland / responsible offroading, sort of ethics rule.

    Can we please...

    Re: Voetspore behaviour

I see your point, but I doubt bloodhound breaks the crust. That would be disasterous. Also the financial influx would overrule any EIA.

I am also a big fan of a proper campfire. I dont collect...

    Re: Voetspore behaviour

I think the thread has derailed a bit. My initial concern was the overland ethics that seems to be dwindling. The driving style and gathering of wood, building huge bonfires on the pans etc.

  26. Re: Beware of 4x2s that pretend to be offroad capable.

Ford & Mazda Re: Stage 1 software re-map

I am also tempted as my fuel economy is poor. But having burnt my fingers with a td5 remap before (2 heads) I would rather pay for fuel and have the dealer pay for my breakdowns.

    Voetspore behaviour

I was watching voetspore tonight, an old episode where they crossed the makgadigadi pans. They were driving 7 vehicles next to each other, 5 cruisers and 2 side by sides. There was even some donuts...
  31. Re: Getting into Namibia without one numberplate.

    My plates...
