  1. Re: Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

Thanks, time constraints keep me away from the big city's and the profesionals. I will have it on a Dyno next week and will see what my local guys can do.

    Re: Sand driving

I am preparing for some sand driving as well, it apears that the GG AT3's are quite well suited to the task, if you look at the tire thread currently running. I am considdering them for sand dune...
  3. Re: Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

I gutted out the cat and it made a big difference . I cannot feel much more in the way of acceleration, but it feels like once the reffs is up it stays up much better.

    Re: New NP300 in Pretoria

    Hi and welcome.
Get a couple of 24 spanners and loosen the nut holding the connecter and swing it up, it is going to get bent again otherwise.
  5. Re: Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

I like driving the Hardbody on the farm, more than I enjoy my new Hilux, it just feels right.

JLK - I get that the 2.4 has its limitations, I have an NP300 2.5 diesel as well and it has heaps of...
  6. Re: Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

Johan I have tested the waters on the mapping route and I could not yet find someone who could do it. Also the results of chipping seem to be not worth it from the results of others that have gone...
  7. Re: Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

The 2.4 double cab comes from the factory with 245/70/16 which has the same diameter as the 245/75/16, so that is entirely within the scope before I even start to fidle with it.

    I dont entirely...
  8. Preparing my Hardbody 2.4i for a bit of dune driving.

Yes, I know it is a donkey, and polishing a turd still leave you with a turd , etc.

I enjoy my donkey, and I have done some dunes with it and seen its limits, now I want to move those limits just...

Re: Your opinions on 2.5 4x4 CVT X-Trail

I just purchased one today, it is for the wife an not for 4x4 driving. The 2.5 engine doesnt feel lively, but somehow the speedo tells a different story. That is probably the CVT.
    Ill see how it...

  15. Re: Lockers/Traction Control etc etc........Comparison??

  16. Re: Lockers/Traction Control etc etc........Comparison??

  18. Re: Lockers/Traction Control etc etc........Comparison??

This confirms what I have seen, TC helps make things easier up to the point where it becomes extreme and then it starts to interfere, thats when you need to be able to lock all diffs and use your...

Re: Vehicle Finance now 96 Months.........

I bought a car in 2003 and at that stage the best interest rate I could get was 18.5%, I had to take it on a fixed rate and a year later the rates were down to 11%.

I am not sure, but I think maybe the ABS, I have had my brakes go rock hard while sliding down slip faces of dunes. It becomes too much for the ABS and it refuse to let you brake.
