Re: What panel to use? - Solar advice

Any of the rigid panels with a suitable size, capacity and voltage will do. I don't think there is any panel specifically designed for this application. The trick is to have some kind of wind...

Re: What panel to use? - Solar advice

I think the question is how and what, not why.

If you have the money and the inclination, go for it.

And besides, a third charged battery (and charging system) while camping is never a bad...

Re: LiFe 12V 8a/h charging advice please

Without knowing which battery it is almost impossible to comment.

Almost any LiFe/Po battery listed as 12V will be a 12V charge system compatible drop in replacement. (ie it will contain its own...

Re: getting started on grid tied

    The answer is really simple.

    Phase 1.

Lay our R25K for a Goodwe or InfiniSolar Grid-Tied Hybrid with backup facility.

Add as many PV panels as you can afford now.

    Harvest the sun during...

Re: getting started on grid tied

Neither does your car HT leads. Its all about the current.

While an electric fence may shock you, it will only deliver a few non-lethal millamps.

A high voltage PV feed will deliver an...

Re: getting started on grid tied

Its really easy and cheap to equip yourself for load shedding.

The challenge is to do it in such a way that it is expandable.

Re: getting started on grid tied

    Wheres that thanks button gone.

I have said this a dozen times. Getting some panels and an inverter and batteries is just the start of your troubles.

    The "stuff"supporting the panels,...

Re: getting started on grid tied

Its way easier to just put a change over switch/contactor on the incoming mains and just switch to grid-tie inverter when the power fails.

A 550V DC automatic switch switch/contactor will probably...

This is the best explanation I have seen explaining the different types of configurations.

A must read for everybody thinking of Solar. Even the experts can learn from this.

Completely different. I would say the Polo and the Corsa are most alike in the segment from a drive and quality perspective.

Re: Polo TSI - what a nice car!

This week I had a Opel Corsa.

VERY pleasantly surprised. The controls felt like they were actually connected to something.

Brand new. Less than 1000km when I gave it back an hour ago.

Re: Ctek 250 upgrade to smartpass

The shunt has to be on the aux battery neg terminal, itís the only way the BMV 602 will work.

I have made a new correct wiring diagram that I will post tomorrow when I get access to a scanner.

    I have to ask why.

Lead carbon seems appears much better suited to off-road from what I can determine.
  27. Re: Connecting backup batteries of differing capacity's

    Spot on actually.

If any batteries are in series they MUST be the same AH or very similar.

Batteries in parallel, whether 12/24 or 48V series strings, can be a mix of AH. Batteries in parallel...

  34. Re: 220 v standup fridge 170 ltr in offroad caravan

Surely the offroad caravan manufacturer would fit a fridge that is fit for purpose.
