    Re: LC76 Rear axles break

Christo, does'nt look to me if this one is close to a weld?. The weld for the saddle weld is inside of that u-bolt, and the hub is a bit further away from where is shear off. It looks to me its just...

    Re: LC76 Rear axles break

Gekyk gou by die cruiser (79) hier by my, die buite diameter van die as word n bietjie groter net voor daai 'saddle', so toyota het die as daar bietjie versterk juis omdat the kragte daar meer is.

    Re: LC76 Rear axles break

I think if you do a close inspection you will see it shear off next to the weld on the saddle. As you indicated next to the saddle the stresses will be the highest due to the higher bending moment...

    Re: LC76 Rear axles break

Dont think its the weld at the hub, that's further away from the leaf spring. Doubt if the weld of the saddle can weaken the casing, but that must have been a ###### knock to do that anyway.

Re: Most fuel efficient 4x4 capable of dune trips

Re: Camp fridge,105ah battery and solar?

Yes, agree, -5 is an efficient temp on the battery supply, unless you are connected to a grid or driving and the alternator is feeding the fridge, then of course you can set the freezer at much...

I also fill that lug with solder, heat it up and push the wire in. Done that for many years and never had a failure. My crimping tool is anyway also useless for that.

Re: Camp fridge,105ah battery and solar?

Less amps, less losses to the controller from the solars, the controller will only charge the volts of your battery. So no reel difference in that, but there are other pros and cons between series...

    Re: Namibia/Botswana border crossing

Apparently you need the PCR test not older than 72 hours (hard copy, and a booking where you go to) to enter Bots and same when exit. We are going to Bots end Sept and that's how we were informed.
