Re: Where do you put your firewood in your 4x4

I found that carrying wood on my RTT damaged the tent cover through friction no matter how tight I could tie the bundles. Space inside the Ducks s premium so also looking for a solution.

    Re: disappointing performance

I've done it a few times with my Hilux D4D. No issues at all. I did always have it in low range from b4 the 1st real switchback though.
  9. Re: Road conditions noordoewer to fish river canyon

Did the exact same route in April. Roads were fine except short stretches of corrugation here and there.

Expect to take 1.5 times longer than distance estimates show you as it would be difficult...

    Re: Hannibal roof racks

Is the Hannibal a solid (welded) rack? Do the slats run back to front insured of side to side? (wind noise) if yes to both these, I'd go with the Hannibal

    No issues whatsoever.

Used the Kimberly route going west the previous week so that could be an option for you as well.

  22. Re: Namakwa Eco Route and Richtersveld with a Bushlapa Ratel in tow?

Grootmelboomhout, had the place to ourselves except for the bird life and fish.
    This was 8 April 2018.

SWAMBO thinks it's the best camping we'd ever done!...
  23. Re: Namakwa Eco Route and Richtersveld with a Bushlapa Ratel in tow?

No sandtracks. I have now (just purchased plus a highlift jack)
BTW, the air jack did not work. The Discovery 4 exhaust is oval and bends downward that did not allow for a tight enough fit.

    It...
