Re: Why is the new Triton not more popular?

Ek dink nie Nissan "besit" Mitubishi Motors nie, hulle het wel aandeel daarin.

"On May 12, 2016, Nissan spent $2.2 billion to buy a 34% controlling share in Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. The...

Re: Why is the new Triton not more popular?

    That is the conundrum.
This thread indicates that the Triton is most probably the "best", except for dealer support and looks.

I understand the dealer part, but not the looks bit.

Re: Why is the new Triton not more popular?

    I will re-phrase it.

Many here said that the Triton is not a popular choice due to the looks, which means that they chose others because of better looks.???

If looks are important, look at the...

Re: Why is the new Triton not more popular?

I find it "interesting" that people buy utility vehicles based on what they look like.

Platkarre, yes (maybe), but to base your choice of a bakkie on "looks" is a bit "metro" IMHO.

    PS, to me...
  5. Re: Which spinning reel for rock and surf angling?

    Real rock anglers use multiplyers.

I grew up with Penn reels, later supplemented them with Abu reels.

The latest Penn, Daiwa & Shimano reels are nice.

    Modern design and manufacturing...

Re: Small SUV/Softroader - What to buy?

As much as I like the Kuga (was only a passenger in one), it can barely be described as "small"? Same size I think as a Fortuner & Everest.

I don't know the Duster, but reports indicate that they...

  12. Re: Groenman's 2021 Transkei Wild Coast Trip Report

    Back to your report.

I fully agree with your opinion re Coffee Bay. The only place there which I visit, is the Coffee Bay Hotel, which is quite good.
The rest is "Mthatha by the Sea", IMHO.
  13. Re: Groenman's 2021 Transkei Wild Coast Trip Report

If you have been to the gorge, it will be obvious that to recover a vehicle would be rather difficult.

    Knowledge is power.

You obviously don't understand the definition of irregular expenditure (even though it is right there in your quoted text). I marked it in bold for you.

    Very impressive engine!
  19. Re: Ordered license disc, got letter fron SANRAL for E-toll fees.

    They didn't, rightly or wrongly.

They opted for e-Tolls, not expecting the population not to pay.

Thanks for confirming my point! ;D

  23. Re: Ordered license disc, got letter fron SANRAL for E-toll fees.

Let's help the brave worriers on how to pay even less tax (other than the "easy" one of dodging eToll):

Don't stop at toll booths - drive right through them (like eToll gantries).

  24. Re: Ordered license disc, got letter fron SANRAL for E-toll fees.

    Not paying eToll is "easy"!

If all these brave men had brass ghoens, they would show their bravery by not paying other taxes too.

Until then you don't impress me.

    Re: rims stuck on hubs

This happens from time to time with the Touareg as well.
The clearance between the hub and the allow wheel hub opening is very tight and dry corrosion "welds" the wheel to the hub.

Re: Why is the new Triton not more popular?

If you buy (or don't buy) a vehicle because of what your mates will say, or other similar reasons, you deserve the lesser (but popular) vehicle.

    Re: Changing a wheel

This illustrates my point very well. Refer to post #3.

which was just too large a percentage of the current value.

Apart from that, it ran perfectly.

I replaced the Treg with SWB Pajero Di-D.

Make sure your insurance is happy with that arrangement.

You don't want to replace your car and be hit with a R5million 3rd party claim.

I have not driven a VW with that engine, but the Jetta 2.0 Tdi I did drive was fantastic.

IMHO one of the most satisfying engines to drive.
