I do not know what the positions of the Gearbox, Main and Air-con radiators are, but check for blocking by grass and feathers between the radiators.

On my Auto Amarok there is also about no engine braking, so I will often put the box in manual on down-hill passes while towing my caravan,
to save the brakes.
