This is probably a matter of opinion. Personally, I think that the depth of field need only encompass the eyes. Thus, if you are confident that you can keep your focus point on the eye, then a faster...

Thank you very much Riaan and Horace.

I must admit though, it's not as clinical and effective as that. This kind of action happens too fast for me to react to like that. It's more a case of seeing...

The question is whether your lens is still sharp at f5.6?

If it is, then use it. Shutter speed really can't be too high, unless you are trying to convey a sense of motion.

    Iso 100 would in...

A 5mm thick steel plate works wonderfully over any type of fire.

Stainless makes caring for it easier.

    Excellent Merwe!

I presume the foreground lighting is not the rising moon? What did you use for that?

MediaRelease: Re: Adendorf Hi Lift Jack

The thing with hi-lift jacks (irrespective of brand) is that they basically stop working properly if they rust.

But if you leave them bolted to the outside of your 4x4, they either rust (if not...
  27. Re: Canon D6 Full–frame OR Canon D7 DSLR mark 2

Sorry, I can't agree with this statement.

From a bird photography point of view:
One seldom gets close enough to birds that one doesn't need to crop significantly, even with a 500-600mm lens. In...

    Re: Landscapes and things

Speaking for myself only, I have a HUGE gap in my lens lineup. I typically only have 5 lenses in my kit:
    15-30 f2.8
    24-120 f4
    50 f2
    55 f2.8
    500 f4

While I do own a couple of lenses in the gap...
  29. Re: From the department of useless information...

Yes, high speed sync can often help, assuming the flash can do that.
It works by emitting a number of flashes quickly.

That means firstly a hit in battery life and secondly a reduction in range...
  30. From the department of useless information...

Not sure how many people know this (it certainly took me a while to find this out): a camera's shutter consists of two "curtains".
When it opens, the first curtain either lowers or raises, crossing...

    Since you mentioned the pickup:

This has leaf springs on the rear axle, and a large load capacity. This means that unless the vehicle is heavily loaded, rear articulation suffers, and thus the...

  35. Re: Which of these 2 w.angle lenses do i buy

Unless you are happy with star trials (rather than pin-point stars) these lenses are both too slow (in terms of maximum aperture).

To my mind, if you want pin-point stars on a crop-frame camera,...
