  4. Re: Annealing copper washers , lessons not learned.

As far as I know, you want that washer soft. So you heat it and let it cool by itself.

    Re: A-frame or trailer

Some gearboxes rely on splash lubrication. So have an oil pump.

Better to leave the transfer in neutral.

If in doubt, take the propshaft off.
  6. Re: Any tricks to lube the clutch plate splines without taking out the gearbox?

If the diaphragm in the pressure plate cracks, it also does this.

At the end of the day, it has to come out.

Re: Lockdown , economy and fulltime camping

It is probably something that I inherited from my dad. The day he died, my mom started to sell all his junk.

I remember a guy came to buy some stuff and he commented "Mike just had the best junk...

And tomorrow I will need that offcut I sold the day before. Besides, that shed and loft would be about 100km from civilisation.

Re: Lockdown , economy and fulltime camping

I would love to do this. But for an old crow like me, where do I go with all my junk?

What I have thought of was to get a bare plot. Build a shed. Put in a loft and live there.

Re: Lockdown , economy and fulltime camping

Many many moons ago, an auditor taught me that there is no such thing as that your clients were "stolen" from you.

    First is service, then price.

    On the beer side,
    service
    taste
    price

    That...

Re: 1982 Toyota land cruiser fj60

I love the intake on the 200. These "go fast" scoops are not for me.

Besides, I would like to see an airflow schematic of that bonnet. As far as I know, that is a low pressure area. I would rather...

    Re: Tracks4Africa during COVID-19

Well then I think the workaround will be to setup a dual boot and then do these kinds of things on a Widows boot. (But I hate windows.)

    Re: Tracks4Africa during COVID-19

Is there a reader that I can use on the Linux, so I can plan routes on the PC.

Then I can just copy the route over to the GPS again.

Re: Botswana Safari plans before lockdown?

    Yo this boy is heavy
  18. Re: Any tricks to lube the clutch plate splines without taking out the gearbox?

I didn't read all, but let me just drop my opinion.

The splines are used for maybe 1mm. When the pressure plate is released, the clutch might move 1 or 2mm.

Where there is travel is on the...

The problem is with the weight. It will exceed 750kg and must then have assisted brakes.

$500 and up. And I don't know how they will handle rain.

Will probably make some kind of little drop down shield, but it will be at Hillcrest, in Kzn. Humidity and salt.

    CJ2A build with a difference

I am busy with a CJ2A, that is to be a nice driver/toy. Not a authentic vehicle.
So I have a pretty butchered chassis, but totally usable.
    New re-manufactured body panels.
    So now the piece I...

    Re: 602 and 662 engines.

They call the engine in the Ssanyong Stavic and the Rexton the OM 662. Suposed to be the same as the 270 5cyl engines in the MB's.

But there are quite a couple of differences.

Re: Trickle charge via cigarette lighter plug?

If that charger is not going to draw more than 15A, why not.

If it is an intelligent charger, just make sure it cut out before your crank battery is to low. Else add some kind of protection device.
  35. Re: Adventure Extreme bend axle and coupler replacement

Yes. Nothing wrong with either Alko or Birquip. Just take a higher rated axle than what was in there.

    Maybe the coupler as well.
