The Start of an Adventure
Early this year a group of friends tasked one of the guys to arrange a trip:
It went something like this: "Ben... Your' up, do it for us...
"Little did we know, what we were getting ourselves into.
The dates were set, the payments were done, and the excitement grew...
We chose the long weekend of the 1st of May, because of the chaos on the N1 during Easter. (We still added an additional 2 hours traversing the various toll gates though, on this very African highway
)(And don't think that your E-Tag works... No it does not
)We were 6 vehicles:
Ben van Dyk - Defender Puma (Trip leader)
Rechard Timm - Ben's Navigator
Jurgen Huysamen and his father - Jeep Rubicon
Philip Grobler and wife and 2 kiddies - Pajero
John Joubert, wife with her sister and husband, and 2 kiddies - Colt 2.8 Diesel (With a Trailer)
Bernhard Enslin and his wife - BT50 (T6)
Myself, my wife - in my Hardbody 2.4
On Friday the 29th we all, except Bernhard congregated at the ultra city on the N1, and headed off on the N1
Soon we got off the N1, near Mokopane, and traveled the R518, R579, and this is just about where I stopped counting the townships and little villages that we passed.. We met Bernard at a garage near the ZCC community and at these co-ords we stopped and deflated: S24 16.040 E29 35.229
