It will fix exactly. The KZ block and the D4D block is the same block.

You won't be sorry. Lots of them in Zim, but they came like that in std trim.

Can't believe TSA never did it...that one would have been a big seller. I heard that they even had the 90 with the D4D in the UK...is that true?

I know there was a 90 with a 1KDFT. D4D with a manual pump.

Something like the 1HDFT and the 1HDFTE

Get a harness and ECU from a Hilux/Fortuner and use that in the 90

I have very limited experience in this field, but from experience can confirm that the mechanical side of a conversion is the no nonsence, simple, straight forward part. The challenge is in the electronics department.

When I hear the word harness in the context of an engine transplant requiring a different management system the word harness takes on a completely new meaning.

Component transplants were simple way back when. Adaptor plate, alignment, resized prop shaft, engine mounts, cooling requirements and fuel/electric supply connections. Today there is an engine management system that is central to component integration.

I guess that is the real challenge.

Bear in mind, you may want to sell this modified vehicle.

My logic tells me to rather buy the real thing than to want to build it that way yourself. You will find the trade turning their backs on you, since no one wants to pay market related prices for a hybrid. Financing and insurance - don't even go there.

If you ask me the future of the transplants thing will be rerstricted to those who do not need to insure or sell their goods to people requiring finance.

I am sure a 90 with a D4D motor will be worth more than a 90 with a KZ.

We sold our 90, KZ 2000 model, for about R70,000.

The market totally disrespects that car.

Hi Henris,

I had to replace my engine at the end. Blow top gasket. I did replaced it with a imported engine. We had to build my old Dieselpump, sump, tappet cover, manifold and turbo of the old engine over to the new one. The performance was not to bad, comparing to the engine with no compression...I still decided to installed the unichip. Got it back this afternoon with the following results:

Torgue went up from 67.2 to 82.2 on the wheels
NM from 297 to 382

Now it is pulling much better. Feels like a D4D I can't waite for the holiday to feel the difference while towing the Echo.

Bastian, los die KZTE in hom. Chip hom net. Baie goedkoper.

Bye the way. I saw a blue Prado 120 this morning with a GP registration with a D4D on the side.....Saw them also in Israel.
