Post Daihatsu Terios

I am in the process of selling my Audi A3 as I wish to travel of road. Places I would like to visit are Kgalagai and Namibia. I accept that the Terios is classed as a soft raoder but wish to know if I can travel through the Kgalagadi and through Namibia with a Terios 4X4. Does anyone know if I will be able to fir a tent to the roof of a Terios?

Not sure about the tent but the car itself is very capable offroad. I don't own one but I have read all over this forum that the little car it very good offroad. All I have heard is that the power is a little low so travelling long distance can get tiring but let the Terios owners tell you as they will have first hand knowledge.

I think that if you dont go in the rainy season you should be ok.

I just did a trip to Botswana, and if I did'nt need to takkle the mud I would'nt even have used low range at all.

I think the terios is very capable, just be carefull and drive sensibly.

I dont think fitting a tent to the roof is a good idea as the terios is not that wide, you might be a bit top heavy, also find out what is the allowable mass that the roof can take.

Emmen, do you already have a Terios or are you looking to purchase one? Have you had a look at the Jimny? As far as I know the Terios does not have low range whereas the Jimny has.

hi Emmen
check out my trip report to Botswana in the early rainy season...
if you want a cheap roof rack, get a marine ply board attached to your roof rack and pop on a cheap dome tent...
my brother in law used to sell terios's (hence i now own one) and he has said he had a lady have one fitted to her terios. i do believe the cruiser to be 1890 wide, hilux to be 1830 and the terios 1690 wide. 140mm - 200 mm difference. putting on the marine ply board will def ensure lower fuel consumption than plonking on a normal rtt?

I would not fit a roof top tent. It is very narrow for two!

Jimny does have low range - I would not buy anything without it.
