Thys thats the model we have presently !
the new one will have the mhawk engine with climate control and same system (drivetrain ) as present but will also later come out with a petrol v6 motor.
It will have all the bells and whistles that all the other brands have and a bit more he he.
I will see if i can get it right to download a pick or two.
cheers

Wayne, it's what I got (on more than one site) when I follow your advice to GOOGLE for it - I did notice it looks like the current model with a bad facelift.
Just tried again and cannot find anything other than a few poorly shot "spy videos" on youtube.
Sorry for the misinformation in my original post

Yep, Wayne, it's a big difference, but I doubt if the final version will look like the pic's you and AJ posted. They seem to be computer generated and not actual photographs. I find it amazing that there are no real pictures available of a vehicle to be launched early in the new year. I'll reserve my judgement until I see pictures of the ACTUAL car, as it will be sold.
I also notice that there are conflicting info on the various sites with regard to the lay-out. Some sites say it is still a ladder frame, while others claim it will be a unibody design.

I have to say, the Mahindras MUST have something going for them...
they are not the most attractive vehicles on the road...
Beauty in the eye of the beholder I know I know....

Thys
i tend to agree with you, but with the effort they have done with the shape they should go all the way and do the change on chassis to mpo, but like you say we will not no till it gets hear.
And then the BIG question will be for how much RRRR it will go for

apoc
Like i said earlier the more you look at it the better it gets on the eye (sometimes)
But its also a free country and not all vehicles are pretty and not all are beautifull but doesnt matter if they are ugly or nice people still buy them and people still love them and that goes for any car ugly or nice.
cheers

haha - just an observation!!!
I'd certainly rather be selling those than a Ssangyong. I'm quite impressed with the quality of the Mahindras, and they have certainly come a long way.
quirky styling I guess.. somehow not quite balanced to my eye. got all the right bits and certainly more interesting than some of the Jap offerings...
http://jalopnik.com/349549/mahindra-...ps-for-us-sale
this one looks alright to me though!!!

Dont we all wish our toys look like that he he.
the vehicles funny enough in the lowveld are amazingly popular but in the towns they strugle maybe the people are to educated(joke) but if you look at rand for rand i say brilliant value for money and not because i work for them but because i trust them and have tested some of them to the limits sometimes and they amaze me everytime.
But like you said a few strings need to be tightend and few things to be sorted out but they will be there or there about in the near future (hopefully)
The worst for you maybe me to is that mahindra has baught out sanyong just hope they dont go the shape route of sanyong the engines are fun but but ugly if you ask me.
cheers

Mahindra / SsangYong links
Wayne, NOW I realize why the pics you and AJ posted looked so familiar !! The new Scorpio has a very strong STAVIC influence, don't you think ?

The new suv is bigger than the present one but not as big as that thing, and yip that is hond lelik but there is resemblance to the Stavic looks like it , but will only now when we see it.
But as said earlier the new suv is much more attractive than the present one ??

Some speculation is that it will boast with a 2.7 5cyl TDI engine borrowed from the Rextron.
The current model being tested in India has a 3lt V6 engine. This is evident by the two exhaust outlets.
The price is going to be 10-12 lahks. Which translates to between R300 000 to R400 000 after import taxes.

Wayne, I was only rattling yuor cage with regard to the resemblance between the STAVIC and the new SCORPIO. That said, I don't particularly like the looks of the car in the pic's posted - to Oriental for my liking. I actually liked the original (pre-facelifted) Scorpio, because of it's simplistic design.

i have to agree....i like and bought the Scorpio because of its looks....simple and different...these days you can't tell the difference between half the makes on the market...
i love my Scorpio...but i am not keen on the new shape....hopefully my trusty steed has a lot left in her.....70,000km and still going strong...battered and bruised form all the fishing trips....but still strong as an ox....

As proud owners, we all know what the second hand value is and spending 300 000+ ..... love my Mahindra but that is a bit much.
I think Mahindra had a good thing going and bringing out the Thar was a great idea.
This thing ........... not so much.

It all depends on what the vehicle has to offer, say you get 6 air bags, traction control..... and all those extras costs money...
The same was said regarding the Kia`s and Hyundia`s... and look where the are today!
I recon this will be great and will be huge improvement from our current vehicles, take note these new onces will not replace the Scorpio/Xylo/Bolero/Thar... it will just make the Mahindra brand bigger in SA
