Operation Be One World
Over the past few months we have been working with a Dutch foundation, "Be One World"
They donated 2000kgs of 2nd hand clothing at a value of about R250 000. During this past week myself and some of the forum members, viz. Jan Putte, Fluffy, Pierre, Slick, Rob Goldblatt distributed the clothing in the remote villages in the Mokhotlong district. We clothed approx. 2500 people! It was an awesome trip! Watch this space for photos!

Awesome
Hi,
It was an awesome experience to be with you all. Thank you.
To be in fresh air, good food, good company, and helping a little, was so uplifting to me.
Under the wip of modern society again, so I am a bit pressed for time. I will take the effort to do a nice trip report ASAP.
In the interrum just a little photo of the convoy from my phone. Only camera I had with me.
cheers
Fluffy

WELL DONE GENTS. WELL DONE.
Those looks of appreciation on the kids' faces surely made it even more worthwhile.

Hey guys!
I've just had a mail from Barbara of BeOneWorld.
She wants to do another clothing and blanket drop this February!
Give me a shout if you're keen to be involved. I'm not sure of dates yet.
This is just really early days!

Just a question, and I guess I will now get flack to daring to ask this.
Why Lesotho? Does charity not start at home. What about the remote villages in the Transkei in the Eastern Cape. The Eastern Cape has the highest level of unemployment in the country. Should we not first look after our own?

No flack, Dirk. (You're the boss)
The lady who is donating the clothes is from Holland. When she looks at Southern Africa, Lesotho is one of the poorest. So she wants the clothes to go there. Remember she is an outsider.
So she doesn't see Transkei but SA as a whole and Lesotho as a whole.
I would love to do a Transkei trip as well one day. I can even chat to her about it.

The official dates for the clothing drop are 24-27 Feb.
So we need to start collecting good 2nd hand clothes please.
Fabfender will be collecting in Gauteng and I will be collecting in KZN.
So, the plan is for guys to come up from KZN and guys to come down from Gauteng and then meet on the 24th.
We’ll hand out clothes on the 25th and 26th and then 27th make our way home.
I want to try and organize for us to stay at a clinic at Mohlanapeng which is 20-30 kms south of Thaba Tseka. I'm going to do a recce trip from 4-6 Feb.

I'm really sorry I've only found out about this now...I would have loved to come along...especially since my mission-field is SOUTH-eastern Africa...Dave, please keep me in mind with your future plans.
As for clothing, how do I contact 'Fabfender' if I have clothes to give (I live in Pretoria)...hopefully I'm not too late to still give clothes?
God bless
Trev
