Default Sorento LR options

I'm currently looking for a secondhand Sorento 2.5 crdi. I've noticed that some models have a 2H/4H/4L LowRange-selector and other models have a 4x4Auto/4x4L selector.

Could someone tell me which models have the 2-way selection and which have the 3-way?

Also, don't want to go into the whole Automatic vs. Manual debate, but is there any reason not to buy a second hand automatic Sorento?

Thanks

Hi, the 3 way setting is on the part time 4x4.It is 2x4 until you need 4x4 or 2L. The 2 way is on the full time 4x4 when you only need to select when 2L is needed. Full time 4x4 is on the facelift.

Skymaster.
The 3 way is on the older models up to 2007
2008 and up only came with the 2 way (Auto and low range)
I have a post 2008 model and am VERY happy with it...its an auto box 2.5 crdi.
I dont take it on hectic rides (for that I have my Landy) but the Sorento is not to be underestimated at all.
Dont stress about buying a second hand auto model as the Kia engine is solid and spares are not really that expensive.
Plus if you buy now, you will probably still get a car that is still within the 10 year warrenty.
Remember, the 2008 and up models came out with 10 year warrenty
I see you are in the Alberton area...Go to Kia the Glen and speak to Willie, he is quite helpfull.
If you want more info, you are welcome to PM me.
Good luck and....you wont be sorry

Thanks guys.

I got my Sorento yesterday, 2005 3.5 V6.

It has the 2way 4x4 selection (Auto/Low).
Very happy with it and is looking at doing a Lesotho trip in April.

Hi Stevh0

I love the Sorento. Still need to take it offroad, but so far on tar and sand roads (±1500kms) I'm impress with the driving comfort and extras that's in the Sorento.
I'm planning a Lesotho trip in April but need to do some offroad training before that.

Was a bit shocked with the consumption of ±7kms/l but then again you don't buy a 3.5V6 4x4 to be economical.
