New Conqueror Compact owner in the USA
My name is Steve and I purchaced a Conqueror Compact trailer here from a shippment that came over in 2002. I am trying to find out if I can buy just the rain fly that came with them but Conqueror is not returning any of my e-mails. Is there anyone on here that might be able to call them and find out how much one would be shipped to the states?
I have been really impressed with the products that I have seen come out of this part of the world.
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with 4:56 gears and ARB Lockers front and rear. It is great pulling the trailer I will post up some pictures as well.
Anyone that could help would be great.

Sometimes it might be better to work through some of the resellers! The guys at Mega Manufactures can sometimes take their time! I've got a bit of a situation with them, and if not resolved I'll post an interesting story on the site. (I bought 2 trailers from them this year - don't ask why )
I'm not sure what you refer to with the rain fly?, but attached it the accesories they provide for the Compact - the prices might be a bit outdated.
You'll also find the contact details on the spreadsheet - Ask for PJ.

XJbanker, you must be close to some of the best 4X4 playgrounds in the universe, out there in Utah? Moab area, Arches NP area, etc. Where was that last pic of your Jeep taken?

That last photo was in Moab on the Behind the rocks trail. My friend it 6'2" and when he was standing next to the drop it was just above his head.
I love going to Moab, there are easy trails, extreemly hard trails and everything in between. it is a place that you could go and never put the jeep in four wheel drive and still have a great time. Arches is beautiful and you could spend a lot of time there as well as with Canyonlands which is about 4 times the size of arches.

No, you're not, I can also see it. I think it's what we would call the flysheet and on the US Conqueror site it seems to be called the sun awning.

They definitely do sell that as an optional extra, but in canvas. I have one, and so does my mate. I've had pretty good service from these guys. I know you've had many offers of help, but if you don't come right I'll add my name to that list.

XJ, I have to say its nice to hear that a Yank need a South African's help for a change! I wish i could come and do those trails! Anyway, you'll find the guys on this forum a useful bunch and ALWAYS willing to help, I am sure you will get your "rain fly" soon with all the help offered! I hope the fire in the pictures are used for more than just cooking water... We must send you some "BOEREWORS" for your fire to enjoy the real African taste while sitting next to your trailer!
Cheers and all the best!

I got an e-mail from them today saying that it was about 3200 rand for the canopy. ( I am guessing that is about $450.00 US) He did not tell me how much it would be to ship it here. I sent a reply message back and hopefully they will get back to me soon.
I do appriciate all the help that I have recieved on here so far.

XJ, also consider borrowing your mates rain fly and taking it to a local place and have it manufactured from the pattern provided by your mate. You can choose which material to make it from, and buy extendable poles etc. This might be cheaper than buying here and all the shipping charges etc.
Regards,

So it must be this one then.
If the price of R3 168 is still correct it's just under $414 at the current exchange rate, according to www.xe.com. R3 200 would be just under $417, so I think you can "bank" on it being not more than $420.
But I would get a local quote, like Landyman suggested, if I were you.

That is what I would love to do, but nobody lives close. I think I am the only one in Utah that has one and someone would have to ship it here and then I would have to ship it back. The trailer came with the poles and line so i am covered there. $400.00 doesnt sound too bad, it is the shipping that I am worried about.
Again i am thankful for all the help that I am getting from all of you.
So does anyone have pictures of their trailer set ups? I would like to see the extra add ons and home made stuff that people have done to better the camping experience.

So I am still trying to get a hold of johan at Conqueror and they still do not reply to my e-mails. I am wondering on getting replacement latches for all of the doors on my trailer. There are 10 that I would like to get. The teeth are starting to get worn out. Looking to see how much they would be and how much it would be to ship them to the states. Any help would be great.

This is really poor service from Conqueror.
I am disgusted.
I once had a comment on poor design on their trailer that I posted on the predesessor of this forum, and they were on me like a ton of bricks in no time. It surprises me that they are so slack now.
Well Xj, you can't complain about the service from Conquerer.....
There is none....
Ha ha ha...
Please accept my apology on behalf of all South Africans.
Maybe they have been taken over by the local authority in Heidelberg and like all levels of government there is now no service delivery...

Here is an e-mail I send to them earlier today:
Quote:
PJ.
Please see the link below and reply to this client request! HE WANT TO SPEND MONEY - IE. PAY YOUR SALARY! Look at the dates in the thread on 4x4community to see how long he has been trying to get hold of Conqueror!! I find this really poor pathetic service, and when replacing my trailer next year, the Echo 5 start to look like an more attractive option! Why? Because they respond without me having to cc the owner of the company.
http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...ad.php?t=40247
Flip: I realize that this is none of my business, but on the 4x4Community as well as on Expidition portaI (an American Overlanding Forum), I promote Conqueror at every possible change with no commercial interest in it for me! (http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...ad.php?t=44774) I do it because I think you have a top class product and that is very well design and layed out! Our Conquest gives us more joy than any other method of camping and we use it every second weekend.
When I had to buy accessories for mine I considered selling it and buying an Echo just because of the poor, almost non existent, service that I've received from your sales team (Johan Viljoen at the time). I've verbally confirmed with Johan that he received Steve's request and still he didn't reply to Steve. Poor service like this does not only create a poor image for South Africa, but it also reduces the second value of my investment.

Uys, ek was 4 keer in Heidelberg. Echo se fabriek lyk soos n privaat hospitaal se teater. Naverkope diens en gehalte was vir my vreeslik belangrik.

The Desert Wolf was certainly more expensive, about 25% I think, but it depended on what extras you wanted. Also, some extras that were standard items in one trailer was considered extras in another trailer. For us it was between Echo, Bushman and Desert Wolf in the end.
In the end it was the DW that won, but we then ordered ALL the extras (drawers for clothes, shelves, plastic food containers, even an additional 40lt fuel tank). That worked out 100% more expensive than the Echo (which was very basic, not many extras available in those days - 2001) semi kitted Bushman (our 2nd choice). It was R62,425 EXCLUDING wheels and tyres vs R48,000 for the Bushman and R30,000 for the Echo.

Dit is reg ! Conqueror en Echo was altwee by die R100 000. My plafon was R100 000 ek wou nie daar oor gaan nie en DW was duurder.

Well just an update I have still not heard anything from Conqueror. I really thought that the e-mail sent would spark some service but I guess it has just fallen on deaf ears. It is just too bad that there are so many people here that look for help from them and nothing seems to be happening. As much as I love my trailer, I would not buy another from them due to the service. There is a company here in the US whose customer service is amazing. www.adventuretrailers.com They will be the company that I go through on my next trailer.

I also phoned them that day to ask if they received your emails and when they were going to respond to them. The guy assured me that he was working on it and that he would respond to you in a couple of hours.

Have you tried contacting Philip de Vries, Tel: +27 16 349 6533, Fax: +27 16 341 6535, Philip@conqueror.co.za, as far as I know he is one of the owners.

They might have closed for the Christmas Holidays. South Africa's manufacturing industry comes to a standstill during this time of year.

I'm very disappointed in Conqueror's lack of response. I'm going to be buying my first trailer next year, and if this is how they operate, Afrispoor is going to get my business.
XJ - seeing your photos reminds me of our awesome holiday we had going through Utah 2 years ago. Would love to go back!!

I am sure there is nobody there now. Last year, on 15th of Dec I popped in there out of desperation to get a fridge(19h00) and they were all a bit tipsy. That was the last day of the year for them.
So trying to get hold of them now would be wasted effort.

Ive been looking at the Conquer Comfort, for my Namibia trip next year, but this thread has made up my mind. XJBanker, along with forum members, has been trying to resolve this matter since September.
From what I have read on the forum, particularly relating to service, the Echo 4 or Desert Wolf Leo are the 2 that I am considering
