Question New Ford Ranger Canopy?

Hi guys. My first post. I'd just like to get a feeling as to what canopy you guys would recommend for the new ford ranger double cab. The two options I've got so far is:

Bucco Alpha (R12600) - Fitted, colour coded
Carryboy S600N (R12500) - Fitted, colour coded

What I liked about the bucco is that the windows are tinted as standard.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Martin Coetzee

Hi Martin,

Welcome on the forum! Great place with lots of good info

I haven't got any experience with either of these canoppies, but a buddy has a carryboy on his Hilux that he is very happy with

Good luck. Maybe some of the other members can give better advice

Things to consider though in general is the options of fitting a roofrack in futura 9don't know if you intend doing this in future, but you never know) Also look at the size of the rear door of the canoppy. If both are practical and have similar specs, go with the one that looks the best. Never forget the looks, as you will be looking at the canoppy on the bakkie for a long time to come

Thanks for the reply Christo. I must say, they both look very similar. You've got a point, I'll have a look at the specs regarding the roof rails. I had a look at the Bucco alpha on tuesday. Going to carryboy in midrand tomorrow or friday to have a look at the carryboy. I saw a great looking canopy at buffelspoort today, called steel top, but it's only manufactured for toyota and isuzu. A pitty though.

I'll be waiting for response from the other guys on the forum.

Cheers,
Martin Coetzee

Have you considered a basic Alu-cab?

I bought a second hand conopy from radical tops for my '08 ranger. They colour coded it and fitted it for R7000 and you won't tell the difference between the secondhand one and a new one as they completly strip, spray and fit new rubbers.

Hi Martin, When I bought mine in 2007 only the Carryboy was available, and I must tell you if I had to choose today, I'd rather pay a bit more for an aluminium canopy; it just fits so much better and is musc stronger and more versatile. My canopy leaks to this day when it rains despite having sent the vehicle & canopy back to the dealer! The rear side windows rattle on corrugated roads and the locks on the front side windows are very flimsy.

I would only consider the alu-canopy from outback.

Default Canopy for new model Ford DC

Hi, I have just spoken to Bucco and they no longer sell the ALPHA. The price was R18 250.00.
The alternative is the CARRY BOY "SO" Model which is R18 500.00, with a 50% Dep and 8 to 10 week delivery date or the standard model for R16 000.00
Thanks for the question, as I am also looking for good advise.
