Default Warning: stay away from your LR dealer

Yep I'm serious!!

They have a new "special edition". It is a Defender 90 Bakkie

Comes with some extra's including rock sliders, and fitted with agressive muds. The one I saw is in a dark metallic red with black Landy rims!!!!

Now I know, this is probably the most impractical vehicle in the world.
It is cramped to the point where it is more comfortable to sleep on a bed of nails.
That red colour is not going to like scratches
The spare fills the whole load bay (so you'll have to spend on fitting it to a swing out arm behind)
The price ticket is a ridiculous R390k

There is just something about a small compact 4x4, makes it look like a dinky toy, you want to pick it up and put it on a shelf in your house. Probably the same thing that makes me like the Suzuki Jimny!!!

I'm driving wide circles around the dealerships. A few more of these sightings and there is no telling what mischief I may perpetrate on my bank account!!!!

Luckily no LR dealers on my way to work

Very desireble. Saw one yesterday at a dealer.

You would probably sell one 2nd hand in a
couple of years for the same price that what
you've paid for it.

At 6.6ft i'm unfortunately far too uncomfortable in it.
130 please.

Yip a nice white one is outside the Nelspruit agent. Its less practical than the 90 SW will be quite cramped inside. How can something so wrong be so right ?

Ja, that red one is at Centurion LR. On our way past LR Centurion the other day my wife spotted it, made me stop to go and look and for the rest of the day she had a very long face because I did not want to buy it for her

It is a thing of beauty: Metalic red, khaki canvas cover, black rims.......drooooooolll.....

Being able to resist the love of your life, and that 90? It must be some sort of dark art that...

Not sure if I should say respect, or chicken

Hi, howzit

Wrong part of forum I think, were you not looking for the Mitshu forum?

I can also ask 3 of my friends with Mitshus to share their overheating experiences with you on the Mitshu forum and then you guys can sort that out.

It is so amazing....I have been thinking of converting mine (I actuall have the roof allready), but Swambo is not falling for it.

Ry Nou had problems with his, you are absolutely right, BUT he went everywhere with that poor Landy, and he put it through hell (he has even admitted to it). No car would last, when putting it through that much hell. Had my Pajero 3.2DID clutch replaced on 100 000kms, not due to poor quality, but due to sheer abuse.

All his problems were on the drivetrain, and brakes, which indicates as a combined problem exessive wheel spin, with a fairly simple design in traction controll trying to stop same by braking as hard as possible on the loose wheel. I have seen him go yp places, my poor Landy wont, and Icant believe it lasted so long.

That little box of fun was the reason I bought the new 90. It caught my eye and that was that- I just could not fit behind the wheel so I "settled" for the 90!

Regard if your dad had a Ferrari, he must have had money and then you would have bought a Range Rover, so I dont believe you ... sorry.

Ok, the original post wasnt a question about reliability of Puma's.
It was about a good looking limited edition 90.

So to get back on track, it does look good. All the wife said was where will the kids sit. But honey, its not for the little kids, its for the big grown up one

Gerhardt you are actually bad mouthing your own beloved Land Rover brand here!
Why does LR advertise themselves as the Best 4x4 By Far if there product do not last when it is used for the purpose it was build?

I used my Puma and my 300 Tdi 90 Bakkie for 4x4ing and for what it was made for. I abused my 90 the Bakkie more than I ever abused the Puma and it lasted.
The Puma I bought brand new from LR and had two diffs and a transfer case replaced before it had 20K on the clock The last service 60K was R15432-07 and most of it was labour. Had to take it back twice after that service due to bad workmanship. All in all up to 60K I replaced 2 difs, 2 transfer cases and services in total worked out to R 41K, just not worth driving a Puma!
I could not park the Puma in front of my room window as it was breaking me awake at night. I sold it and lost 89K within one year.
If I can buy back my 90 Bakkie I will do it anytime as that was the last lasting Defenders ever made. I loved that bakkie!!
My Amabroekies is going in for itís 15K service tomorrow and if Gerhardt says I am abusing my vehicles I will say that VW is way better than a Puma as up to date it did not give me any trouble at all. And I have a maintenance contract that covers all cost.
The last service 60K was R15432-07 and most of it was labour.
Hells Bells. Can I ask what was done at that service to warrant the price? My 60k service was R2,425-40.

Ryno

Didnt mean to insult your driving at all (or my brand for that matter)

Al I am trying to say is that is not brand specific, and you will always find a bad lemon in a bunch. We have a diverse group of guys in the Gauteng group, with all types of cars, and a few of them have had issues with their specific brands.....This does not mean that all Fortuners will get stolen or have their clutches replaced every so often, or all Isuzus having a squeeky suspension, or all Amaroks are under stress due to small engines, or all Landies leak oil........well the last one could be true.

Generalizing (and I do it too) is normally the problem in these conversations.

Eurard, jou black-sim, jou closet Landylover. Jy maak almal se bloed sommer gou stoom......

Lets now get back to the topic.........the ninety pickup.

The service, Breakpads back and front and some small stuff like Wiper blades and so on. Not one of my services was under 3K

Yes Franz I will do that in October this year and I will do it better than the Puma did.

I still like my Defenders do not get me wrong, but the running costs and breakages on my Puma cured me from ever driving one again. I will however love to have a 90 Bakkie again.

Gerhardt no heart feelings

I also think my Puma worked like a beast. 4x4ing almost every weekend, towing the Range Rover when she felt ill, driving lots of dirt roads etc.

Sure I have also replaced the Transfercase, and the diffs but with the amount of punishment it took I will buy one tomorrow!

The Puma is also a amazing 4x4 and I can honestly say it as standard will go where you want it to go!

Also LR replaces anything that they think may be faulty under warranty and do not ask questions. I blame the dealerships in just replacing parts and not fixing or looking for the problem. But as stated if LR fits the bill who cares?

By the way I had my Puma for 3 years!!!

But back to the topic! If I fit into a 90 bakkie I will buy it with my eye closed!!! I think it is an amazing toy!!!!

I had a look at one standing at the EL dealer. White one. Awsome!

"Dear God, you made many, many poor people.
I realize, of course, that it's no shame to be poor.
But it's no great honor either!
So, what would have been so terrible if I had a small fortune?"

If I were a rich man,
Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum."

A big thank you to the guys who are trying to discourage me by ad nauseum re-raising their little niggles with their Puma's.

Sorry but it is not helping.

Maybe you guys can become a little MORE explicit, let's se if that helps?

Now what is my bank manager's phone number again? Mmmm....

Hurry guys, quick I need help urgently here

Are you sure you are talking about Ryno Black
