Default Hilux 3.0 D4D 4x2 conversion to 4x4

I have spend a lot on my 2008 Hilux 3.0 D4D D/cab 4x2 and decided to keep it and just do a 4x4 conversion.

Everything from a 07 Hilux 4x4 D/cab fitted perfectly except for the center bearing that i had to move.

My only problem lies that there is no electrical plug on the wiring harnass near the front diff to give a "signal" to lock the front via the electrical unit located on the front diff and to light up the 4x4 light on the instrument cluster.

Please have anyone did this conversion before i need advise how to solve this problem

Happy New Year to All!

Titos, I'd recommend to rather start a thread in the Toyota section on the Forum, as it is vehicle specific and to the point. Also www.hilux4x4.co.za.

If at first you do succeed, don't look too surprised.

Hi Titos,

Were all the necessary mounting points already welded onto the chassis or did you have to weld it on during conversion?

I guess you will have to route wiring outside the loom, and fit warning/pilot lights outside the speedo console since trying to modify the the standard wiring loom is perhaps too risky.

(I was involved with doing a similar modification on a Hardbody, and there the 4x4 loom differed from the 2x4 loom. The loom plug going to the dash had a different number of connectors as well.
Also, the Nissan 2x4 chassis differs slightly from the 4x4 chassis, requiring the welding up of mountings).

When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It is difficult only for the others.

It is the same when you are stupid.
