Helderberg 2 Oceans - OK for newbies?
Hi everyone. Is the Helderberg 2 Oceans route OK for newbies; newbies as in 'have done the recommended novice training course but that's it'. We now want to get out there and get our toes wet.
Apparently there is also a route at the top of Sir Lowries Pass that is a scenic drive rather than a 4x4 trail but may be better to start with?
Thanks
Penny

2 Oceans is ideal for a newbie, especially when it is dry.

Thank you, Andre! We're a bit nervous (only 2 vehicles, both wet behind the ears), but excited.

PS: Sorry to be a pain, but, with all due respect, are you sure? I forgot to mention I only have a little Kia Sportage and it doesn't have a diff lock. Saw pictures of a Suzuki aj10 tho' which is probably on par .... ?

There are 4x4x4 or red routes that you can bypass. But even these you should be able to do in the Kia. It's a nice drive with awesome views, enjoy.

You should be more than ok , the trail is rather simple and shouldn't take you more than 90 min, with the a few obstacles . It does become exciting after some heavy rain . This isn't a car breaker.
Rememeber to pack a picnic lunch and post some photos.Enjoy.Cost is R150 P/V

Go and enjoy.
You should only have slight dificulty at 1 obstacle I think, and if memory serves you can back up and avoid it.
Golden rule. Rather do it over than over do it.
No use breaking your vehicle to try and prove something.
But again, you will be fine even on the red route.
