Hi Scipio,
Please send me details off the vehicle! I keep a record of 101's in SA and would like to know which one you bought and get your details if you don't mind. These are very scares and I would like to keep track of it.
I would also like to ask very nicely that you don't hack it and try to keep to original as much as posibble. Very dificult to get drivetrain (axles, props and gearbox) spares for this beast. The drive train is almost entirely unique to the 101.
If you need advice or info please contact me.

What does it look like, left or right?
If it looks like this....
You have accuired one of only 2600 of these ever made for the european military market.
Very keen on knowing who and where you got it from as I need to update my register
Only 6 people in SA I know of have these.

Hiya crv, others, will post before pics on Tuesday, when it is through roadworthy.
It is a 1974 Ambulance Body, converted into a camper, but still all Landy, no ford, Chev, toy parts.
She needs a bit of work, but after a respray, someTLC she will be cool again. Looking at respraying it to the original Green.
I found the original owner of the vehicle that baught it from the Army. At least the Motor and drivetrain runs well, but first before a trip, I am going to change all fluieds.

Had a thought on the colour last night, the original green, well, I might look like compitition for some warlord/dictator in some African country, I might have to paint it pink.
Any suggestions?

Hi Scipio,
Original LR bronze green. All MOD vehicles from the LR factory were painted bronze green.
You could try the LR 'sand' colour which is close to the desert scheme used on these.

What you have there is a Series IIB Forward Control, not a 101.

Here's a 'before' photo of ours. It's currently in many many pieces in anticipation of getting a rebuild and a new motor.

Slow, very slow.
Heavy.
Top heavy.
Shares many parts with a standard Series II, but also has many unique parts, usually made of unobtanium, especially drive train, steering etc.
Original motor is very underpowered - don't know how a 2-and-a-quarter diesel even moved it.
Second only to a 101 on the LR coolness scale.
Did I mention slow?
What motor does yours have? Mine was modified for a 300Tdi with R380 box, but that has been removed and it will probably get a 3.9 V8 from a Disco 1, mated to the original Series gearbox and transfer case.
Looking at your location, I reckon it'll be perfect for cruising around the park, and then camping at the various rest camps, without the need to set up a campsite.

Got a Rover SD 3.0 straight six, runs great. I am not going to do any obstacles with it, but definitely go offroading, overlanding.
As soon as the sprayjob is finished, I will be doing some trails.
First Kruger, doing all the 4x4 trails, then off to KTP, then Sani, then......
Eish, she is slow, but I wont be doing any highways. Next weekend I will just test her out at DeWildt or so.

Don't get your expectations up about it's off road performance, especially gradients. Be careful out there.

Pity it's not a 101, I'm unfortunately not a big IIB fan
BTW, is it not a 2.6? And if so, is it a side valve or a R6?

Hi Scipio. I live in the complex where this Pig is/was. The Board of Directors had a 2 year battle to get rid of it as the rules prohibit the storage of caravans, trailers, broken down vehicles etc in the driveways. The guy also caused huge damage to the neighbour accross the street's lawn with the flatbed truck that brought the pig in.
Regards
