Default Wrangler JK - Catalytic Converters

    Hey All

Booked the Jeep in at SAC Vanderbijl this morning to sort out a "release bearing" .......and decided to remove the "cats" and probably do the UNICHIP or branches while it's in for surgery.....

    I'll keep the post updated...

Ok, SAC just informed me that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my release bearing, and that the noise it is making is from a partially worn clutch, however they are not advising the replacement just yet as it's got about 80-85% LIFE LEFT IN IT, whatever thats means....

CATS They are not tampering with them. Apparently don't want to take the risk as they've (or someone they know) have done so before and can't seem to sort uot the engine light warning.... I was realy looking forward to the outcome.

Anyways, the best they can do is to do a chip, UNICHIP with approximately 7-14kw diffrence....not worth the R2500+labour IMHO.

I managed to speak to a friend of mine that works in the States and designs aftermarket CHIPS for all makes and models. Follow the link and look at this bad boy http://www.unichip.us/products/46-FLUX-In-Car-Display

Anyways, if anybody knows about a specialist that's willing to sort out the catalytic's please let me know....it only makes sense to drop them, re-design the branches and then only install the chip....according to my mate one could get as much as 25-35kw with this type of mod...

N.B. - Dirk, please could you sort me out with this "nickname" thing, I'm getting abused and suppose rightfully so , anyways, just let me know what I need to do......

Abuse.... haha... At least you have seen the DARK side so no worries, we like you already!!.

Check out a chip called the Bully Dog GT Tuner. This will also give you a one button press to disable the electronic traction control as per the other post. The unit has a couple of really nice settings like throttle control ect, however it is Expensive. I "know some one, that know's some one" that has this. and it works like a frigen DREAM!!, it also has... just read up about it. I think it's worth all price.

The cat's are still an interesting affair... wonder where we can find some INFO... Google, where are you!!.

I'd take SAC's power estimates with about 25kg's of salt.

They have a terrible reputation with the onroad performance tuners.

Ok Just had a Chat with Viper systems.. They can do the FF system for a good price and claim a very humble 7kw and 12 NM.... he did however comment and say that the cats remain in the system, they don't remove them... thus the Cat Back systems... They also do the headers... I am sooooo tempted....

Yea... and Dirk jr(Other Dirk, not our Dirk) from Patcor is selling his units(That are Jeep Centurion approved) for about 6500.

I will have a chat with my friends at jeep and see what they say about the Viper systems.

You cannot get a product "Jeep Centurion" approved, either it is CSA (Chrysler SA) approved or not, this will be a or not. So yes Jeep Centurion might "approve" of it, until the paw paw hits the fan, then they will look the other way.
