    Default Maitland Mines

I took the family to Maitland mines for an outing and a braai at the spot overlooking the Maitland river mouth.

Took the Jeep all over the place except down an rocky incline where the road seems to dissapear at the bottom going to the river. Almost seems as if it was washed away as it drops straight down; did not go down there for safety reasons!

Not a bad place with a sandpit and some steep rocky climbs; too many boring long stretches of grass paths for my licking but I will go again as that picnic spot is great and the sandpit is fun!

Nah just don't like it. Boring when dry and can be dangerous when wet.

Yes, there is evidence all over the place of what it can be like in the wet; track markings show lots of slipping and I even picked up a couple of CV joint housings on the steep uphills (I have this tendency to climb out and walk the trail if in doubt)
