    Angry Workshop manual

I unfortunately own a Jeep Cherokee 2004 model and need a workshop manual for it to avoid spending more on it than I paid for my house. I've searched the web to buy one but it seems like you only get the Cherokee workshop manual up to 2001 but you can buy the Grand Cherokee manual up to 2004. Does anyone know whether the Grand Cherokee manual is applicable to the Cherokee as well?

Sorry bierfeesten, the Grand Cherokee is a totally different animal. There is a thread with links to workshop manuals in the "Sticky's" of the Jeep section.

    Try these links :

Thank you for the reference Thys. I will go and have a look. SWAMPRAT says the Liberty is the one I should look for.

    Hi Bierfeesten

Your Jeep is known as the KJ or Liberty or Cherokee, The Cherokee label was used on earlier jeeps as well. Stick to KJ and we are all stay on the same page.
The manual took some 13 hours to download! Start with a copy of the 2002 manual from Jeep001, a few seconds to cut a CD. I have the 2007 manual, I know that Kobus DP can also assist.

List your problems, it's difficult but somewhere someone has the answers.

    Regards
    Selwyn

    Hi Selwyn

I bought my Jeep second hand with only 30k+ on the clock. Initially I had no problem with the car and enjoyed the comfort and power. Two years ago I picked up a water leak but the vehicle never overheated. I took it in for a service and was told that the head was cracked. Apparently this is a common problem. The service cost me close to R36k.
In short I wanted them to fix the following:
    bonnet catch not hooking properly
driver door handle not opening the door first time
air conditioner not working (after fixing it with he dealer 2 mnths earlier for R1.5k)
water leaking into the car via some pipe on passenger side (carpet now ruined)
water leak (refill twice a weak with a bonnet that wasn't closing properly)
vehicle's performance not up to standard

I simply don't have the money to keep sending the car back for more maintenance. The fact that the water leak re appeared and I was quoted 32k to fix just drives me nuts. Water accumulates on top of the piston and makes a hell of noise when trying to start it some mornings. As a result I have stopped driving the car completely. I am looking for the workshop manual so that I can remove the head and have it repaired again. I am not sure how difficult that would be but I am left with no choice.
