    Default 50ppm diesel in Namibia

Does anyone know the availability of 50ppm diesel in Namibia? We're planning on driving round the Southern parts in Sept/Oct.

Because our government rightly assumes that a diesel engine NEEDS the sulphur in the diesel to help lubricate the pump/injector internals. Longer engine life = fewer imports of new replacement vehicles = smaller trade deficit

Seriously, why bother to change a perfectly agricultural fuel into a high-tech, expensive................agricultural fuel? The cost to service stations, fuel wholesalers etc will be huge. Very small demand, and the cost to roll out / distribute in a country 1 million sq. kms big with maybe 200 000 cars, of which diesels are 30 000, of which modern 50ppm only diesels are only 1000.... Does not make sense. In Botswana they did it, because outside of Maun and Gaberone there is maybe 3 service stations

We will get it in due course. The powers that be are too afraid of being called "backwards" to put it off for very long. Maybe 5 years or so.

@Gert - the main advantage to the end user is LONGER engine life due to 50PPM.

It seems like 50 ppm diesel is finally available in Windhoek:

    http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...d.php?t=102774

It's a truck refueling station, but they sell to anyone. One can pay with debit or petrol card (or cash, I guess).
When a man sits with a pretty girl for an hour, it seems like a minute. But let him sit on a hot stove for a minute and it's longer than any hour. That's relativity.
