Ek dink nie 'n "oom Louw" gaan so goed afgaan daar nie, so ek sal 'n bietjie my huiswerk doen voor

Just came back on friday from israel, only had time to do 4x caches around the 2x hotels i stayed at, i went to seminars and had no own transport, this ,makes caching a bit difficult.
I found 1x in haifa and 3x in tel aviv.
Having no internet connection was a bit of a pain, other than wifi at the hotels, and i was not willing to pay roaming prices, up to R105/mb, and had no time to get a local databundle.

Here is how i approached this internet problem:
1.downloaded offline maps of israel on my tablet
    2. downloaded the caches at home already for these two cities, c:geo, then exported as GPX
    3. took screen shot on my tablet of the cache surrounding while on wifi, satelite view.
    4. got a new tablet and etrex20 as both got stolen in a hijacking 2 weeks earlier.
    5. downloaded maps and caches onto etrex20, this worked well, but the maps i got was not
    well detailed for the garmin
    6. logged the finds when back on wifi

This was my first cacing abroad, and it was exiting.

    Hi Marcus

Next time you are going North on the N1, take the Hammanskraal offramp and go caching through the Dinokeng Big 5 reserve

I'm looking for caches a little bit out of Pretoria and those look like quite a nice day trip, I hope they are accessible without going into some of the private lodges. By the looks of it one can do a nice loop and do about 16 caches in total.

Just a heads up, Cape Point Nature Reserve have decided to blanket ban geocaching in the park. No new caches allowed, all existing ones will have to be removed and archived. Notice is to be sent out to cache owners in the near future ......

I have heard there is a move to have all geocaching banned in all of the Cape Nature Reserves. This is probably the start.

    I do understand why though...

TMNP have left it up to the individual Park managers to make the decision. Silvermine for instance is still allowing new caches subject to the approval of the park manager.
