We had our first caching day with friends yesterday, met them @ emperors palace, left my car there and went to irene with their disco3.

Our friends are TEAM TIP TOP from potch, i will still info later how many we found, but we are far from getting what some teams get.

We reached our 200th cache and our friend reached their 100th cache, we tried to go for 100 for the day, but called it quits when it got dark, the passing cars got too close for comford.we are currently on 206 and our friends on 149.

We used 2x galaxy tabs, 1x iphone5 and a garmin etrex20. We started to get better as time went by, splitting into two teams, the swambos and the men. I would reckon that one device would have been a problem, as we were logging, driving, searching, downloading, and just having a ball the whole day.

Now for our next adventure, but we would have to remain patient as we live about 160km apart.

Update on previous post, found 72 caches last saturday,

We became premium members today, i think we waited too long.

The etrex20 is pretty accurate, i think this will still help alot in future finds.

72 for a day is good!! Well done, the most we've done on a day is 32 I think. I'm not very keen on these GPS series caches although they can give your stats a quick boost if you do them. We've reached 305 over the weekend. We are going to Heidelberg this coming weekend to attend their first Event cache and do a few caches as well.

I detest them and refuse to get any of them as a matter of principle.

We are also planning to go to heidelberg on saturday, looking forward.

There are still a few caches to be found in and around heidelberg for us, i would like to go to suikerbosrand in the near future, that looks like a trip on its own.

Marcus, I saw your name on a few logs in the Heidelberg caches. We will see you guys there!

We did Suikerbosrand in Dec, yes that's a daytrip on it's own. We did not see ANY game until just before you go out at the southern gate. Disapointing from that point of view but the caches were nice. Their maps are crappy so we took the wrong route at one stage and ended up where we started. It's all one-way roads. Just remember one thing, keep turning left!!! The Protea Hotels resort inside the park is also closed.

Any thoughts on perhaps combining geocatching discussions with metal detecting discussions. I am pretty sure I am not the only detectorist here and I did not see any discussions on the topic in the hobby section.

Maar so baie soos julle travel is daar duisende. Dis nou as dit in jul belangstelling sou wees.

We reached our 300 th cache today, 92 for the day, in the cradle of mankind area.
We did have a few DNF's, which we logged. This has now been our second caching spree,
maybe not everybodies cup-of-tea, but still great fun. Now to try and get 100 for the day.

Great to see some caching activity on this forum. How about more 4x4 related caches from community members?

So I was thinking, if we can manage to organise that we van do both the dam wall tour and the Tussen die riviere trail on the Monday or however and not only one of the two, we can try and do all the caches in the Tussen die riviere area whilst going for the trail.

The others close to the camp will be easy, either together with the dam wall tour or on the Tuesday relax day.

That only leaves us with GCTBC9 there on it's own to work in somewhere.

    What do you think Werner?
