    Thumbs up Nissan Navara 2.5 dCi 4x4 Clutch- Good news for a change

    I have just received my baby back from Datcentre Nissan in Durban. I sent her in for the 90 000km service and asked the technician to have a look at the clutch as it was taking very high.

    The service advisor told me that they would need the car for about a week to assess the clutch. I was called four days later and informed that they are going to replace the clutch under warranty.

    I was really surprised when I fetched the bakkie at the smooth operation of the clutch. I am really happy with the service I received from Datcentre Durban and wish to congratulate them on a job well done.

    The cost of the service and replacement of the clutch came to around R26 800, all covered by Nissan.

    They also informed me that the ECU was reprogrammed to protect the clutch. Somehow the torque output has been changed. This is however not noticable on my bakkie. She still pulls like a demon.

    Cool "Bro".....I don't have many complaints with Nissan so far either. Have also had my clutch replaced by them. Enjoy your bakkie, I sure do mine!

    Atlantis Nissan replaced My Navara's turbo on the 90k service after I complained of a flutter under the bonnet. Free of charge. The flutter is still there though. I can't complain about the vehicle or the service. Mine is at 110k km and nothing has gone wrong yet. Will get another when the time comes, or a Pathfinder.

    Well my bad news just Started... I think its my turn, buit I don't think they will pay for mine due to the fact that I have bigger tyres on but will find out tomorrow, it made 52000km so that has to be a plus for Nissan.

    Hi HFS I have BFG's on my Navara, and have gone up in size too. Nissan never said a word to me. I did an oil change on 82500km and used a GUD filter. The technician was ok with that too.

    There's a thread on this. The 'ECU adjustment' was to limit the amount of power it pushes out, as the clutch can't handle it. Many have had their clutches replaced at lower mileages due to the overpower issue.

    Its good to hear theres some dealers that still give good service though.

    It's smooths out the gradient, peak powers are untouched.

    was doing some research and seriously considering a Navara club cab. however after reading the price of a clutch replacement and the issues I'll wait for the Hilux club cab. I love NIssan bakkies, they beautiful but Nissan SA have attitudes that need adjusting and spares prices that are way out of line. 26k for a service and clutch is madness!!

    As far as I know only Nissan, Ford, Mazda, Isuzu and Mitsubishi have club cabs.
    Dont know if Toyota's SmartCab is coming to S.A

    Anyway I think Nissan's new 3.0 V6 diesel Navara that will be available later this year is going to be the best bakkie money can buy....can't wait for that!!

    I have joined your Navara clutch replace club..! After returning from Botswana there was a slight shudder on the clutch. I took it in for checking the diff oil etc and mentioned the clutch in passing. Nissan (Imperial Menlyn) replaced the clutch under warranty and also the headlights which both got water inside the lenses from driving through rivers in Botswana. I am quite impressed with Imperial Menlyn and Nissan SA.

    I have just recently bought my Navara 2.5 and only read about the clutch issue after my purchase. If I had know about it I probably would have passed on my purchase.

    That being said, I absolutely love my Nav! In the past 3 days I have put on bigger tyres and lifted the suspension (3.5 cm for only R1,500 all inc). I walked in to the first Midas I could find and they can give you a full aftermarket kit which includes the flywheel for R6,000.

    I'm glad I only read about the clutch after my purchase...

    The V6 is a Renault engine...the current clutch for the 2.5 dci is Renault... From my experiencie Renault = Unreliable & Expensive. I hope I am proven wrong as the Nav is an amazing car...when it works!

    Not...V6 is Nissan, common rail tech is Renault. Nissan is the worlds LARGEST V6 producer. So take Nissans know how and Renault diesel know how should be a good mix. I saw the V6 in Europe not long ago, it's a Nissan alright revs like a 330d and packs a MEAN punch. They had a dyno'd one pushing out 267kw. Think 350Z dieselised.

    YESSS!!!!!

    Nissan makes hardcore V6's and know what they're doing!!

    And yes the diesel engine is renault...so that means Navara is the best and most powerful petrol and diesel bakkie by far. Nissan have been and will ALWAYS be one step ahead of its competitors

    Good news, i have had my 4.0L v6 Navara for about 2 weeks, nice to know that Nissan assist when there are issues. ( i took the 5 year motor plan), so hopefully will
    have no issues going forward.

    I have a Navara 4,0 L V6 4X4, AT, 2008 Model.
    I had to upgrade to the Auto due to clutch problems. My first Navara was a 2007, 6 speed manual model and i had to replace the Clutch 3 times. Everytime I hook my Jurgens Exclusive its time for a new Clutch. Nissan had guys from Japan to come and investigate the clutch problems at my house.
    Now there is no 4,0 L AT available anymore, do not know why Nissan has discontinued the AT since Hilux is still available in a 4,0 L AT.
    Will probably have to keep the 4,0 AT forever or will be forced to buy the new 3,0 V6 Diesel AT.

    Nissan had to replace my 2,5 cd 4X4 Navara clutch twice :

    first on 33000 km and
    then on 76000 km . The scond time was a bad experience because it happened without any warning deep in the Namib dunes after it was specially checked & OK the week before by Nissan.
    That bring the 'Navara clutch consumption' to 38000 km/clutch.
    I lost complete trust in this machine although Nissan paid for repairs and part of recovery (not for the fact that my expensive desert trip was a complete disaster)
    What do you think should I change back to Hilux of give Navara a further chance?

    Carry on with the Nav - it's a much better bakkie than the Hilux in every way, except for the clutch problems. Seems like the 4.0 V6 guys does not complain SO much than the 2.5 diesel guys, so why not also try the petrol?

    One must also wait and see what the upgraded 2.5 Nav will do, as well as the 3.0 V6 - maybe they solved the clutch issue.
