Anyone been to these two camping sites before than can give some input will be appreciated.

What is it like? Rates? Facilities? etc

Skurwekop has a website but does not give a lot of info on the camping sites.

    Thanks.

    Hi Blackie

I was at Skurwekopin from 28th Dec to 2nd jan 2010. This is the cleanest ablution facilicities that I have ever seen. There is even "toilet spray" in the toiletes. The camping site has access control. Some of the plots are a bit small and there are only a few sites with trees. There is only about 27 camping sites. It is sometimes referred to as the "mini camp". You won't be spite if you go there. The rates are R200 per site for 4 people. The site is only about 1 year old.

    Thanks guys for the info.

Jeep001, looks very nice - I will be passing through there on Monday on my way back from Hartenbos so if time permits, will do a quick visit to check it out and maybe do a booking as well.

Skurwekop has the best ablution facilities in the Western Cape. Atlanta between Brits and Thabazimbi is the closest I have been to this.

The campsite is on the Breede River, but access to the water, especially if more than 4 guys wants to fish, is very very restricted.

Take an electric fan with during the summer. I think the devil has his torture chambers around the corner from Skurwekop.

Was also at Skurwekop 28th Dec to 2nd Jan and couldn't agree more with the comments, absolutely majic, well maintained and controlled.

    Hi Steve

I thought I recognised you. Well, I think the Jeep was up to it to pull the 1.6tons back. I "cruised" @ 100-120km/h with the aircon on and the fuel consumption showed it (3.6km/l). At least I now have something in common with the Land Cruiser guys - fuel consumption.

I hope you received the rest of your rig by now. I was really impressed with how everything fits together and how easy it is to set it up. Off-road trailers are really the answer except the missus wants her creature comforts
