having never driven anything other than gravel and spending my last bit of spare money on getting the pajero running and fixed, I have no intention of breaking anything.

I suppose maybe I'm just being a baby

You are going on training with Ralph. Listen in the training, listen to Ralph's instructions, then drive the trail.

The key? Listen to the guidance Ralph gives you and you will not break anything I promise you that. I have been with them many days during training where drivers who's never been offroad drive the entire Zookamma which has some interesting sections.

From the images posted the only way to break something is not to listen to experience.

I am sure your concern for the condition of your vehicle is not that disimilar to the onwers of brand new GLS Pajeros who for a part of the usual training group.

The training is focussed on skills development and not as a driver challenge.

The challenging sections will be tackled on Sunday but we have specifically chosen obstacles that have bypass routes.

    Thanks for the re-assurance Ralph.

Have you however cleared up the confusion with Peter who seems to have been unaware of our expedition?

Just got off the phone with Peter and having managed to find his diary is back with the program.

Apparently there is only one chalet left @ R350 for Sat/Sun or R500 for Fri/Sun. The other are booked. If you have booked and have spare bed available please post on the thread.

Camping is R30 per night and there are 3 electric points.

The trail is R100 for a day pass plus R20 per passenger. If you stay the weekend the fee is R100 for the weekend and passengers are free.

Peter is willing to cater on Saturday night as the Amatola 4x4 club will be joining us for a braai. Peter can also provide a cooked breakfast. I can't give costs until I get numbers but Peter said we can confirm this on Saturday morning when we sign in.

For those who would like to make a deposit for the accomodation please pay 50% to P.N. Mansvelt Acc 2374011003 Branch 137421 Nedbank Hemingway.

For those who want to attend the training with me please send a mail to ralph@4x4training.co.za.

Are you training Saturday and Sunday?

I know we are meeting at Mitsubishi Motors on Saturday morning 08:00 but what is Sunday's agenda?

Haha, just to prevent people being too oversensitive, I was not under the impression that pikanini hasn't really 4x4'd before! Hence my confusion.

I agree with Dirk. Listen to Mr Clark and there will not be any problem!

Will you be able to lead the trail on Sunday or can we ask Peter?

The obstacles look worst than it really is, accept for the one with the Triton in the picture. That Craig's Hill, and it is definately not part of the normal trail.

All of the trails had been done by very standard vehicles such as Toyota RAV 4's, Jeep Cherokees and Hyundai Tucsons. There are escape routes. It is actually a lot of fun.

And yes, if you listen and follow the instruction o the guide, you will be quite safe, and so also your vehicle. My wife had done all of the routes, accept for Craig's Hill, in her Pajero GLS.

You simply have to give it a go, and you do not have to do all the obstacles.

Sounds like it is going to be a blast!

Ralph : How many of the 12 spots have been filled? Will you lead the trail on Sunday or shall we ask Peter/Someone else?

Also : Shall we meet you at Mitsu Motors at 08:00am or can we meet you at De Kraal. Will there be time to off-load our weekend baggage before going on the training?

Firstly I have not restricted the number of people for Sunday to 12. So far I think there are only six cars confirmed so we need to step up the numbers.

Peter suggested Jean lead the trail and he and Ryan were going to go out last weekend to see what kind of route to setup based on the new route being opened by Peter.

For Sunday the best place to meet is at De Kraal as some members would have used the accommodation for Saturday night.

For the rest they can either meet at Mitsubishi Motors in East London at 08:30 or go directly to De Kraal to meet at 09:30.
